Now that Disney+ has made Clone Wars, Rebels, and Resistance available which of the series is a must watch? Any personal preference?

Thanks

Clone Wars and Rebels are very good. Not really must watch to follow movies but they add great side characters and backstory to some main movie characters.

Haven’t watched resistance yet.

Clone wars then rebels. Clone wars first season can be spotty but it gets really good eventually.

Never watch "resistance". Its a Kathleen Kennedy thing.

Clone wars does start out slow for the first season or two. Lot's of filler with saving the planet of the episode type of thing. The later seasons are awesome.

First two are phenomenal. Heard resistance is awful. Haven't seen it though.

Clone wars first.

It's a slow build, but really fills out Anakin and Obi-wan as well as a lot more of the universe.

IIRC Dave Filoni oversaw this, and imo he should be in charge of the Star Wars universe direction (like Kevin Feige is for Marvel).

As a plus, the clone wars episodes are short, so are easy to sandwich in :)

Proper order is Clones and then Rebels. While Clones is not a direct prequel into Rebels, there are key characters from Clones that are also key characters in Rebels, they bask story is needed to appreciate it more.

Rebels is a easier quicker watch (79 episodes), Clones is a long binge (122 episodes).

They're adding a final season to Clone Wars for Disney+ that is coming out in February. You should watch all of Clone Wars ASAP so you can get up to speed before then.

This article has some mild overview-type spoilers about the show, as well as news about the final season coming and discussion about the announcement trailer. Do not click if minor spoilers make you crazy: LINK

Clone Wars first and I will say it made the prequels better in my opinion as it gave a lot of back story of what was going on during that time.

Rebels next and it plays well into Rogue One especially the OT.

Resistance is all a Disney creation you would expect. I have seen everything else Star Wars so watched it with the kids but doubt I will ever watch it again.

Clone Wars felt like I was doing a school project for the first couple seasons. Really slow and I just didn't like it. It gets better though. Rebels is superior in my opinion. I've really enjoyed it so far. I'll finish it tonight or tomorrow.

Make sure to find a viewing order for Clone Wars. It definitely helps with the early seasons as many were aired out of story order.

I agree plus the narrating reminded me Starship Troopers when they did the news releases.

I'll put it to you like this...

Star Wars Clone Wars action figures are highly sought after in the collecting community. Some command hundreds of dollars loose.

Star Wars Rebels action figures are highly sought after in the collecting community. They command 2 to 3 times their original sticker price, and are appreciating.

Star Wars Resistance action figures produced one wave of figures, and they can be found on the clearance aisle for seventy-five cents.

The collectibility of the toy line is reflective of the quality of the series.

Full disclosure: I am highly biased.

I can't pick between TCW and Rebels as to which is better. I love them both for different reasons.

But since we have a new season coming in February (which is amazing IMO), I'd recommend watching TCW first. And perhaps watch the episodes in chronological order. The episodes weren't released in strict chronological order. This is a list of the order things happen.

TCW Order

TCW is done as multi-episode arcs while Rebels is more one long story. And as others have said, there are things introduced in TCW that pay off better if you watch that first, then Rebels.

I haven't seen enough of Resistance to have an opinion.

There is a funny fan theory on this, that this version of Clone Wars is the Republic propaganda piece in response to the original Clone Wars series.

I believe you are right. Him and Lucas had pretty heavy hands in Clone Wars (Lucas on overall story and what not). Show greatly benefited form them.
