He looked like our 4th best back.

He doesn’t have the short area quickness or elusiveness to be a really good back in today’s game. We threw to set up the run yesterday. Emery and TDP will both end up being better.
Just wait until next year after more improvement in the offseason.

Yes, the two true freshmen were noticeably quicker when they were in the game.
That’s ok though. Different styles of backs is great.

Yeah. He hits the hole hard and fast, but he really lacks wiggle. TDP and JE4 will probably pass him, imo.

Am I the only person who was shocked at how much they used him instead of TDP?

Only if nobody else payed attention pregame

He’s running at full speed after 2 steps

They've been talking all week about how good he's looked in the practices leading up to the bowl game.

I'm guessing they either favored his experience and ball security over the freshmen or they threw him a bone to keep him out of the portal.

His pass blocking awareness is still better than TDP and Emery at this point, that's why he got the most playing time. The staff knew they were going to pass all over OU and Curry was the most experienced blocker. Add in any freshman yips and Emery's small fumble problem.

Joe picked Curry to be his dude and they adjusted the play calling to suit his skillset. Simple as that

Need to work on his pass catching like CEH.
This. And his lateral quickness. We don’t need him to be Clyde, but we need the primary back to be able to run the entire playbook effectively. Clyde isn’t the fastest back, but he can still run to the outside very effectively. Curry hasn’t proven that’s in his game yet. He was still pretty slow on the lateral runs he had yesterday.
But he has an offseason to improve these things and a lot of competition right there with him. Whoever of those three gets PT time should be ready, because that’s going to be a battle. You have three talented guys with contrasting styles pushing each other and hopefully one good freshman joining them for Fall camp.

The fact of the matter is the blocking changed dramatically after the Utah St game.
Up until that point the run game was sub par for what the passing game was. We should have been gashing people. CEH was just ok up until that point. I simply thought the freshmen possessed more natural talent to make something out of nothing.
I don’t really shy away from that. I think they are prob the most naturally talented runners LSU has.
Curry was fine last night but he left some yards on the field. His feet are sub par, he can’t change direction, and he has no HR speed. They blew open some holes for him & he took advantage. It was nice to see and I hope he sticks around next year to back up the other guys

Don’t try to sit there and tell me he didn’t dominate the rushing game yesterday.
It was a solid performance and I was impressed, but it wasn’t dominant. And to be fair, the staff didn’t ask him to be. They put the game on Joe and he delivered pure dominance.
That said, Curry proved he will be a real contender for PT next year. He stepped up when called on and that deserves respect.

I think the most interesting thing is that based on the season, you would have expected it to be Price yesterday
So clearly, Curry has shown something in practice he wasn't showing before
What I saw was A LOT more decisiveness. He only really let himself get away from that once

I love what Emery should become, but based on the results yesterday, he’s running at least third. I still like Price-Davis better, but Curry is no scrub and there is a reason he got the reps when it mattered. After CEH proved me wrong by the UF game, I’m trusting the staff on which back is ready to go.

No way they decide the starter for a playoff game based on that.
