Jim Plunkett has 2 for crying out loud and was never considered one of the top QBs of his era let alone has he sniffed the HOF, yet most think Eli will and should get get in, why? RINGZZZZ
So Eli is gonna get in with 2 SB wins. I assumed every QB with 2 SB wins is in, but you're telling me someone is out there with 2 and not in...then why TF is Eli getting in?

Jim Plunkett threw 164 TDs to 198 interceptions. I swear you people are so obtuse. RINGS aren't the only deciding factor to a QB's legacy. The numbers he puts up also factor heavily into it.
Marino had the numbers but he never got a ring. Montana had both the numbers and the rings. That's why he was always consistently ranked ahead of Marino. Want further proof he was looked on more favorably than Marino was in the 80s? Just look at the 1980s NFL All-Decade Team. Joe Montana is listed as the starting QB. Not Marino.

You're definitely that one guy who loves W-L record for starting pitchers.

Do you not see how ridiculous this sounds?

Rings AND stats matter.
I repeat.

Rings AND stats matter.
That's why Jim Plunkett isn't in the Hall of Fame. That's why no one ever considered Terry Bradshaw to be the greatest QB in the history of the league before Joe Montana showed up. It's why no one ever seriously considered Dan Marino for GOAT status.

Please drill this through your head or at least acknowledge what I'm typing so that I know I'm not talking to an idiot.

I consider Plunkett as a guy on a team that won two SBs. Eli was more of a reasons the Giants won two. But Eli doesn't deserve the HOF IMO.

He is saying rings matter when he wants them to

Joe Namath was revered as a great QB back then he had 173 TDS and 220 INTs you can't look at old stats the way we do now.

The all decade team was after the decade or at least at the end of it. I lived thru it and i'm telling you at points in time Marino was considered the best QB in the league.
Here's some proof for you, SF traded for Steve Young before the 87 season because they feared Montana was done due to back injuries. He wasn't and had a great year in 87 which ended in a first round blow out. Going into the 1988 season there were arguments that SF should start Young. He did play some that year and his 49 yd TD vs Minnesota not only won that game, but its why they made they made the playoffs. Without it they sit at home and there is no Montana to Taylor (hey look its John Candy) drive. Its after that and the 89 season, where they absolutely dominated and were considered one of the best teams ever, Montana arguably had his best year in 89, after that yes, Montana was named the QB of the decade, but prior to 88, he wasn't.
Note 2 the irony that without Steve Young, Montana has 1 less ring and 1 of his 2 signature moments.

That's fair PJ and i'm 100% no on Eli to the Hall.

What about 1981 and 1984???
I have to say that Montana was the QB of the 80s decade.....

The only knock? No Super Bowl appearances since 2009.
2010 playoffs: Defense gives up the infamous Lynch run in the final minutes to clinch the game
2011 playoffs: Defense gives up GW touchdown in final minute
2017 playoffs: Defense gives up GW touchdown as time expires
2018 playoffs: Defense gives up game tying fieldgoal in final 40 seconds

He was the first QB in the history of the NFL to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. He was also the NFL's first celebrity athlete and was also was famous for his guarantee going into Super Bowl III.
Those three reasons are why he's in the Hall of Fame.

And yet Dan Fouts is listed as second string behind Montana on the 80s All-Decade Team. Marino isn't anywhere to be found. I hate to break it to you, but you're wrong. He might have been considered the best QB in the league for a couple of years, but he obviously wasn't consistent enough to earn a spot on the All-Decade Team.

Horrible list. Will not be visiting PFT to take their click-bait.

Dan Marino doesn't get much praise for what he did because he doesn't have a Super Bowl ring.

Go check the way they did it. At the time they took votes for the best QB of the decade. Montana obviously took every vote. Except one. That went to Dan Fouts. That’s not indicative of people thinking more highly of Fouts than Marino. That’s just some guy that didn’t want Montana to be unanimous

1. Tom Brady. The best quarterback over the past 20 years (and ever) is good enough to earn a separate Hall of Fame spot for each decade. Over the past 10 years, Brady has been phenomenal, with five Super Bowl appearances and three Super Bowl wins. Even as he seemingly limps to the finish line, he has enough left to make it six and four.
Sooooo...what makes Brady the best?
