I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Myles Brennan will take over at QB next season (unless Finley or Johnson are phenomenal) but from what I’ve heard, Brennan is more athletic and has a stronger arm than Burrow. If anyone can confirm or deny this. Also I think the O will incorporate more running game to accommodate the talent at RB or lack of golden arm that Burrow has

If they can, what should they do?

Not sure we've seen enough to know how accurate Brennan is, but he's got a bigger arm than Burrow. He has a cannon.

He might be more athletic than Burrow, but I doubt there's a player out there tougher than Joe. Not sure we'll see many designed runs for Myles. Maybe they will have a package or two for Finley.

ETA: Brennan always looks jumpy and uncomfortable in the pocket imo. But I think he will settle down with more reps and the game will slow down a bit for him.

Thinking someone has some inside info or has seen more of Brennan than most others

Oh, I know what you're thinking, I'm just pointing out that you did not write out a complete thought.

For some reason, people think burrow is not athletic. He was an all state basketball player. He’s deceptively athletic and fast.

Um no.
And the deciding factor for how well he will do will be if he is smart enough to run the offense the way Joe has.

I think it is going to be a very interesting competition.

The skill sets required for LSU now that we have and are keeping Brady are much broader. The mental acuity has taken on much more prominence. Timing matters alot.

The evaluation of 'best QB' is now way different.

Yes- it's safe to say Brennen has a leg up. A big one. I wouldn't assume anything at this point. It's an evaluation that will, truly, allow for surprises.

Peter Parrish was a 4-star dual threat QB and is seemingly the official green jersey clipboard holder. I’m curious how effectively he will compete for the starting/backup job against Myles and the new kids.

Exactly! Burrow, in addition to being a willing runner, has really good vision as a runner. Go watch the play against UGA where he is flushed from the pocket. Starts to run left. Stares down a receiver to his left flat to hold the defender, then hits the seam for a 10+ yard gain. He's also several times run away from LB's and DB's chasing behind him (at least in short spurts)

He's not Michael Vick fast, but he is FAR from just a decent scrambler. His running ability is a back breaker for defenses. They can cover everything perfectly and Joe can STILL pick up a first down with his legs.

We are going to have a drop in QB, just hope its not severe. The biggest concern is who is going to replace Cushenberry.

not worried about his athleticism or arm strength

it's the check down and abilities to evade pass rushers that really set Joe apart from any other QB out there.

I would love to see Brennan display even half of Joe's football IQ and elusiveness.

My concern with Myles is his release and processing doesn't seem to be quick enough, though maybe the light will come on for him as he gets more reps with the 1s.

This staff has made it clear that they are open to grad transfers. I hope we pursue the best avaliable guy.

Brennan has a stronger arm than Burrow. But he's not more athletic than him.

That all comes with practice time from February to July. He'll have some seasoned WRs, TEs and RBs to lean on too.

I don't understand the people that constantly want to talk about next year. We are 8 days away from playing in our school's first CFP game. Can we just enjoy this right now? There's plenty of offseason to fill starting in a few weeks.

Yes.

What makes Burrow great is his ability to read defenses, his toughness and his ability to avoid pressure. If you know where to go with the ball pre-snap, you don't need a rocket arm.

We’re not taking a grad transfer. We can’t.

I can neither confirm nor deny this. Strictly need-to-know, wink-wink-nudge-nudge stuff. You understand. It's nothing personal.
