He did nothing but expand the administrative and bureaucratic bloat at LSU.
His strategy when problem solving any given issue was to: 1) send the whole community a letter lecturing us on why LSU is wrong, 2) create a useless administrative department staffed exclusively by minority women to rectify our evil ways.
This goes for all things from Greek Life to Academic funding to general student life/activities to fan behavior at football games.
In short, he’s a member of the educational intelligentsia, had no ability to understand the atmosphere at LSU, and will fit MUCH better in the Pac NW.
Eta: He’s douchey enough to insist that he’s referred to as “F. King” Alexander. If that’s not evidence of his inflated self-importance, his intentionally dishonest position on the state budget in relation to LSU certainly is.

Most are just upset because he doesn't share their political views.
But some are legitimately unhappy with how tough he has been on greek life. In all fairness, LSU is not the first University to make strict rules regarding Greeks. I believe he did what was best for both public relations and maintaining some form of control.
That situation could have been handled better. But I know WHY he chose those actions.
I cant speak for the liberal politics.

Can someone tell me what qualifications Jay Dardenne has to run a major research university since his name is being floated as F. King’s replacement?

Jay Dardenne is a master of failing upward.

King and JBE killed the Jimbo hire (which ultimately seems to have worked out well for us) because the state was in a budget crisis. The athletic department is self funded and totally separate from the university's funds.
That and his holistic admissions policies pissed a lot of alumni off. He also trashed the state and university every chance he got. Good riddance.

F. King spent money on useless things and administrative overhead, while alienating and destroying the Greek system to which most big donors were members of, and would brag about diversity as the academic rankings slid faster than Oprah on a water slide.
Not to mention how much he loathed athletics, which bring in crazy money to the university. Meanwhile, Alabama had the opposite strategy and their university has never been in better shape. The money is pouring in.
He is everything wrong with academia. The school should be run as a business and if it were a private business, he would've run it into the ground. He just continued to waste tax money on worthless agendas and overhead.
I'm not an LSU grad, but LSU means a lot to Baton Rouge and he couldn't be pushed out fast enough.

LSU needs to focus more on STEM, getting the smartest kids into the school, keeping those kids in Louisiana post graduation, while embracing things that donors like (Greek system and athletics).
Diversity rankings do not fricking matter. They just don't. You need two things to be a successful university, smarter kids and more money.

Most of the state's brightest are not probably going to LSU. If they do, I am sure they left to chase Texas money.
I hear what you are saying and agree with the premise, but brain drain in Louisiana has been a problem for ages

Spot on.
Diversity of THOUGHT is what matters. Skin color, nationality, and gender are useless metrics. Being obsessed with meaningless biological statistics is 1/2 of what’s wrong with academia.

These are factors that can increase diversity of thought, btw

I know and King made it worse. We need someone who can at least slow it down somehow.
There are lots of clever ideas out there to do this, but he did nothing,

Can being the operative word.
ANYTHING can lead to diversity of thought. That’s the point. Diversity of experience. skin color does not determine your experiences or intellect, unless you also subscribe to eugenics.
Basing your position on how diverse something is on demographics is just about as low information as identity politics can get. And that’s very very low information. But political pandering and what not, so around and around we go.
Identity politics are evil.

Louisiana will probably never have enough white collar jobs to be employ all of its college graduates. We aren't the only state like this. We can work to improve this though.

More data, at least from external observation, points towards a lack of diversity of thought occurring on college campuses, especially in those locations that are deemed very "diverse".
Now, that isn't to say that every single person on a campus has the same view points, but, with most colleges, the administration to the educational staff and down to the student government, there is a decidedly lack of diversity of thought.
This is seen even in conservative regions/states.
University of Wisconsin is a heavily progressive campus, as is University of Texas in Austin.
Diversity of thought, as the end game of diversity pushes, is not an actual outcome. It never has been.
Can you actually give Scruffy an example of a diverse campus anywhere in the country where "diversity of thought" actually occurs?
Hell, the colleges in California express their diversity as a cornerstone of their existence, but they are the least thought diverse entities in the USA.
Same with the Ivy League schools.
There is a distinct lack of diversity of thought in academia, especially within those academic institutions that laud their diversity.

He sold out everyone and everything he could to endorse JBE during his first run as Guv. And he worked for JBE.
I mean what more could you want on a resume- I mean CV?
