And it’s “sad” because.......?
Do you think kids being kidnapped is good? Glad we don’t live in the same neighborhood.

It is sad because you allow your paranoia to limit your children's childhood

me too

I would never want to live somewhere that I was too afraid to let my children play outside by themselves

How the frick old is she?

My 10 yr old rides her bike up and down our street all the time. Sometimes she stops at the little community park and climbs the oak tree and shite. She checks in every so often. No worries.

You really think someone's gonna kidnap your kid? I get it if she's under 7 or something. But most kids will run and holler if the likes of Acreboy comes creeping down the street.

You’re full of shite. It can happen in any neighborhood because anyone can drive through ANY neighborhood unless it’s gated.

And this doesn’t limit my kids childhood.

They still have to be protected from people like you.

it just doesn't happen enough to warrant any worry

like 98% of kidnappings are done by a family member

of course does, how could it not?

My kids are outside all the time. They LOVE being outside.

But they also dont have any, phones, tablets, video games or any other electronics. They only watch maybe 1 hour of TV once every 2 days or so and its real actors and sets or puppets, not animated cartoons.

Kids will like what you get them used to. You shape their preferences and habits with the boundaries you set and the experiences you endeavor.

My kids and I were just walking a trail today in a nature preserve in rural St. Tammany. They loved it.

I can't keep my kids in the house. They'd rather be outside.

I do notice that there are a lot of kids on my block who rarely come outside though. And when they do, it's for like 10 minutes then poof they disappear. But they are weird as frick so they can stay in their house for all I care.

I’m still in college so I guess I grew up in a time where kids stopped going outside but in my neighborhood that I grew up in, we were always outside and would have to be forced to go back inside once nighttime came. We loved being outside. My parents also didn’t let me get a cellphone until I was 14 (yes I know that’s young but I had friends at 9-10 getting cell phones) and I’m glad that my parents wouldn’t let me get a cell phone until that age. Made our childhood a lot more enjoyable and we had a lot more fun because there’s so much you could do outside. I’m worried that when I have kids, we won’t have the luxury of waiting till our kid turns 14 to give them a cell phone, but instead they’ll basically come out of the womb with the newest iPhone.

Cell phones have made life easier but at the same time, I wish those bastards never existed. They’ve ruined us humans and it’s sad to think about what the future holds for us because my kids won’t have the childhood that I had, and I didn’t even have a childhood close to what my parents had in the 70s and 80s
