Was the committee putting LSU #2 all for money?

There is a part of me that believes the committee put LSU #2 because they want the OSU vs Joe Burrow match up in the final. Apart form being a great narrative it's also fantastic for business.
So what would be the most likely outcome to make that happend? Make LSU play Clemson who has a better chance of beating them then OSU. Doing it early helps alleviate the fall out, but after the conference championships it would have been outrageous to keep it that way.

No I truly believe that they thought OSU was the best team in the country. The way we handled Georgia and the way they looked against Wisconsin is the reason we are #1 now.

For Joe's sack I hope they do, but I think Clemson takes this one

You are not fully appreciating the stupidity of the committee.
They are only capable of amoeba like stimulus/response decision making.
Fortunately they have 4 slots to get the top 2 correct.

It's a show for entertainment and where you stand any particular week
It's made for TV
If they wanted to avoid all the controversy, announce it on Selection Sunday

They put us #2 because OSU had been dominant all season up to that point and we just allowed a freshman QB and bad team to put over 400 yards rushing and 37 points on our defense.
That's why we got moved to #2. It's really that simple.
We fixed our sh*t and moved back to #1 after we demolished a Top 5 team in our CCG and Ohio State struggled with a Top 10 team by comparison.
Again, just really that simple.

At 1 or 2 for LSU still gave them a potential OSU v LSU final, so I don't think that was the pure motivation.
I think the idea, in some way for putting LSU at 2, was to shift the bracket so there couldn't be an SEC vs ACC final.
The first playoff final in 2015 featured Big10 - OSU vs Pac12 - Oregon
Since that inagural season -- it's been:
2016: SEC vs ACC
2017: SEC vs ACC
2018: SEC vs SEC
2019: SEC vs ACC
So, I think the committee, in some way was trying to stack the field so there would be some different conference representation in the finals.
I don't think they were trying to protect OSU from Clemson. I think they were trying to keep the finals from feeling like the SEC/ ACC showcase.
However, LSU dominated Georgia and OSU struggled early with Wisconsin and it became too hard to justify keeping OSU in the top spot -- so it all became a moot point.

They still will get it
Man, on the surface I thought that Clemson would dog Ohio State out - and they still may. But knowing that Clemson has not played a Top 20 defense and has not beaten a ranked team this year makes me believe now that it may be an LSU/Ohio State match up. I agree with you.

No.
If OSU is #1 and UGA #3 (assuming they beat LSU), the committee gets Burrow vs. OSU in the semis and (potentially) Fromm vs. Fields in the finals.
That said, I think all the speculation about who was ranked where is 100% over analyzing by our fanbase.

The AP poll seemed the be more accurate top to bottom than the CFP this year. The CFP seemed to constantly rank teams to fit a particularly narrative. To make it worse the narrative would keep changing.

They moved us to #2 bc they were expecting Bama to back door in at #4 (which they would have without losing to Auburn) and allowing us to avoid a semi final rematch. They couldn’t make it right 2 weeks ago bc Michigan was a better win than A&M, but were able to do so after we dominated UGA. They did the right thing through out the process.
