Very hard to perfect like the saints do. Takes perfect timing and coordination, must not be doing it well vs our defense in practice.

we are talking AGAINST BLITZES
so they do not work against blitzes?
Burrow has absolutely murdered defenses down the field against blitzes
I'm not sure screen passes would improve the offense that much

It's not the Saints offense. The saints run alot of I formation, two tight end sets with a full back.
LSU doesn't
The Saints go under center.
LSU doesnt
The route tree and concepts are similar but this is far from the Saints offense

Agreed. Screens are difficult plays to master, there is no reason to go there at this point

I trust your football instincts more than I do most on this board. You really think there are strong similarities between the two?
I'm not talking about wrinkles. I mean basic designs, schematics and formations.
WR route tree/rubs is all I see... which is great considering its getting guys open all year long.

we saw men blitzing freely against OM. we coulda used screens there. we definitely neecded them.
I mean, we scored 58 on the road. We could have used them and possibly had success like you said, but when you score 58 and win by 21, I don't think you really need anything.

Not sure we have the correct personnel for screens at this time. Have you seen our guards? They’re huge immovable objects but not so much of sprinters.
We tried a WR screen the other night against GA and they blew that shite up. That’s probably why we don’t do it. We just aren’t very good with screens for some reason. Wish they could figure that out though.

Joe's passer rating against blitzes is better than every other qb in all of college football, period, pressure or no pressure.
Not sure a screen game is much of a supplement.

Excellent point

Clyde has like 50 catches this year.
I don’t know the record but that has to be up there for most ever by an LSU RB
Who cares about a screen when he’s catching balls over the middle on LBers and getting 15 yards

This is odd for me, but I'm have zero complaints about the offense please don't change anything

rb screens are usually called on 3rd down. I think E calls 3rd plays
Posted on 12/10/19 at 12:45 am to arcalades
Plus it isn’t often that LSU is even getting to 3rd down. We generally score within 3 minutes and have huge first and second down plays.

This is not the saints offense. Everyone says this but JB brought concepts to LSU of the saints offense. People need to watch the saints games bc our offenses aren’t the same. DB runs tons of play action from under center. They run max protect a ton.

make a quick throw hoping WR can get off and open quick enough?
Those quick throws are called hot routes and they are checks when Burrow sees where the blitz is coming from. It’s not hoping he knows they will be open. The best way to beat the blitz is throw it where they are blitzing from.
