Why do we care so much about being #1?

Because it is the easier path to New Orleans!
Why can't people figure it out?
And forget your link.

Because if we are number 2, we have to play a much more difficult opponent in a venue much farther from Louisiana.

Your stupid Clemson #1 thread got whacked
Now try this angle

Streaks are made to be broken and it is presumed that playing OK is better than Clemson in the first round...

Because we we get to choose to play in Atlanta. Because we don’t have to go through Ohio or Clemson first who do not have any losses.
Any other obvious questions that need to be answered.

Playing a QB that has played in each of the last 3 playoffs is easy?

Do you really want to play on that garbage turf after what we saw yesterday?

You have to play them eventually. Why does it matter when you play them?

That's completely meaningless.

Kansas St. managed it. Iowa St. was two point aways from managing it.
Also, didn't he have to transfer because someone beat him out?

Yep
Does that mean that he is not really good?
How quickly we forget what a Jalen Hurts lead team did to LSU in Baton Rouge very recently

It's not going to be that much easier. OU is a better version of Texas. It'll be a close game.

Just means there are better QBs out there.

No one said the beating Oklahoma will be easy but it's an easier route than going through Clemson. Better to face Clemson or Ohio State in the championship game in New Orleans

Yep
And hurts is mobile
Plumlee showed us what mobile QBs can do to the LSU defense. Hurts to Lamb is also much better than anything Ole Miss had.
OU is no joke. We can score on them, but they will score on anyone they play.
