re: Shortage of economically attractive partners for unmarried women to marry

I had a similar thing happen to me. I visited our office in Canada for two weeks and had a woman I’ve worked with a little bit essentially threw herself at me. I’m 34, and she was 38, and definitely let breadcrumbs drop that she was desperate to find someone.
The sad thing was you could see she’d been really beautiful 10-15 years before. Hell, she looked really sexy for 38. I know for a fact that if we’d met in our early 20s, even if we were the same age, she’s never have given me the time of day. I wasn’t economically so attractive then, and not as physically as I am now.
But she had that same desperation. It clung to her like a bad perfume.

because slut shaming was a thing of the past, and women were not career focused in the past. If you weren't married by your mid 20s your town or society would think something was wrong with you
It’s exactly those women who invented feminism. They couldn’t or wouldn’t settle down with a man, so it became men’s fault that no one would marry them. So they convinced themselves they didn’t really want what women want, they wanted to be men.
The next step was convincing women who would have been perfectly happy and fine with the old system to come and be miserable with them.
But the next generation of bitter feminists actually could get men, even though they were told (rightly) women should guard their bodies and sex, lest you become a single mom. They didn’t like that, so they convinced themselves and then everyone else slutting it up was fine; single motherhood was to be championed.
Now they have convinced a whole generation of women to be sluts in their youth and bitter miserable bag ladies in middle age. The only thing left is to blame men.

They think it’s bad now? Just wait till the next generation sexbots get here.
Pickings gone be mighty slim.
Just saying.

Because back in the day one of the primary selectors a woman used to pick a man to marry was whether or not he was financially stable enough to support her and a family. That's out the door now thanks to feminism and the government's war on the family unit.
I got my masters in accounting so pretty girls would love my boring arse, but it turns out I’m just an ugly, uninteresting, CPA who hates women because they’ve always thought I’m a boring nerd. Why don’t they love me for my steady income?!?!

eh
there are studies that dispute OP, at least re: children being born out of wedlock
but the issue that your sarcasm misses is that on the meta level, women don't marry "down". men will. women won't
that's why they do studies like the one in OP. there aren't enough satisfactory men to satisfy the demand of educated/working women. the problem with his statement in this thread (and your response) is that it's still true, effectively
you're trying to create the "owes me sex" meme when it's not applicable. having education and a good job are the 2 bare minimum requirements to marry an educated, working woman.

Women want to be paid equally to men to rid themselves of the “gender pay gap”
Women want to marry men that make more than them.
Women complain because enough men don’t make more than them

So millennial males are beta with no drive and millennial women are all faux femnazis?

Physical attraction is a huge component, but certainly not the only one.

So besides sex and kids, what can these women wanting marrying up do for the men?
They usually aren't as smart, usually are less interesting (not including drama), and are mentally boring. What exactly do they bring to the table for someone who is successful, has some brains, and wants a relationship thats stimulating?
I disagree, I've seen quite a few women look better at 30 and 35 than 20.

As she put it, you don’t always marry the love of your life. In her case, I think she actually despised her husband.
It didn’t make sense to me at the time. But I think I can appreciate her plight, now.
He was the best worst option.
So, you support people being miserable just so they aren't alone? That makes no sense. I'd rather be alone than in a marriage with someone I despised. Maybe that's the problem. People feel too much societal pressure to be in a relationship. I can be happy in a relationship. I can be miserable in a relationship. I can be happy alone. I can't be miserable alone because only I can control that. Maybe I would be happier in a relationship, but I can certainly not be miserable alone. If the only thing that makes me happy is being in a relationship no matter how healthy it is, then there is something wrong with me.

I disagree re. a woman’s career. If you’re a professional male you aren’t going to have a happy relationship with a blue collar female. Two vastly different worlds.

I remembered the beautiful girl, and she was still beautiful, but age was catching up with her. She was still funny and engaging but I surprised myself. I wasn’t the least bit interested in her.
It was two things.
She looked so old to me, now, and that was important. But she also carried herself like an older person. You could see the fatigue in her eyes. The disappointment and failures, that she had experienced. There was also a sense of, almost, desperation. And that was unattractive.
Sitting at the table, across from her, I thought of my ex.
She had been 21, and like most young people, she was absolutely in love with the world, and the possibilities of life. She warm and happy, she had just adored me.
And her excitement was contagious.
You're sitting across from someone in their 30s-40s and you're think of your 21-year-old ex? This honestly just sounds like nostalgia. You're just wanting something you no longer have.
The disappointments and failures? That's called life. The bolded part can sum up your feelings. It sounds like you weren't as interest simply because the older woman sitting across from you didn't stroke your ego as much. That's really a lot to expect from someone that you had just reconnected with after decades since grade school.
People age. It happens. It's not something to hold against them. None of us are as young and vibrant as we wish we were.

For one, hotter <> not hot.
For two, Tiffani Thiessen. She was hotter at 35 than she was at 20. Christie Brinkley was also as hot at 45 as she was at 30, and still attractive at 60. Nancy Travis and Kristy Swanson are also both as attractive at 40 as they were at 30.

These synthetic husbands have an average income that is about 58% higher than the actual unmarried men that are currently available to unmarried women. They also are 30% more likely to be employed (90% vs. 70%) and 19% more likely to have a college degree (30% vs. 25%). Racial and ethnic minorities, especially Black women, face serious shortages of potential marital partners, as do low socioeconomic status and high socioeconomic status unmarried women, both at the national and subnational levels.
Strong math in this article.

Speak for yourself. I don't care how hot a woman is, if she is dumb as a rock, then she is not attractive. Humor and intelligence are just as important as looks. This is especially true if you are having kids with her. I don't care if my kid is attractive, but I care a great deal if he is dumb.
