Last year I would have said absolutely. I still lean that way but I’m a bit hesitant now.

I know he’s been nicked which is the major reason he hasn’t looked the same.

But huge contracts for RBs no matter how good just seem to have a way of not working out.

Gurley
Bell
Freeman
Elliott- he hasn’t looked as good but hard to say it’s not working out
Johnson

Lot of data points there. On the flip side, Kamara is so dynamic.

I guess it also depends on the QB situation as much as anything

This.

But I also think we could pick up a compliment to Murray.

I think we may have to.

We were able to walk away from Bush & Sproles because we had Brees for another 10+ years. Knowing that we will have to bring in another QB, most likely rookie, you need all of your playmakers available to help them along.

Don’t pay a RB

I love him though but you put that money in the trenches or on defense.

If we don't pay him, he'll end up haunting us while playing for the Falcons.

if kamara could stay healthy i would say maybe 15mil a year, but he should be happy with 8-10.

he's a rb, it is what it is.

would rather spend money on a true wr2.

Trade him and two 1st rounders for Burrow.

I am sad to say it, but Kamara is becoming injury prone. We are managing his minutes, but he seems to be banged up every other game.

Reminds me of Reggie in that regards.

No. He is a special talent, but last year without Ingram he was banged up and this year without Murray he got banged up.

Only time SP uses him now the defense hones in on him making SP more predictable.

I would like to see more money put in the Trenches.

They need a good QB, another good wide receiver or two, draft a good couple of defensive guys. Maybe draft a young tight end as well in late rounds

Wouldn't be wise. The drop in production between him and a cheaper option isn't nearly worth the wage gap. He's a dynamic player, but he isn't a "build your offense" around him player. He's a puzzle piece.

Does anyone really think that there aren't half a dozen backs around the league right now that could offer at least similar production? Not to say that these guys are "better" than Kamara, but do the saints have a worse record if you replace him with any of the following?

Aaron Jones
Tevin Coleman
Chris Carson
Josh Jacobs
Nick Chubb
Kareem Hunt
Austin Ekeler
Phillip Lindsay

Those are either "all purpose backs" or guys still on their rookie deal. In 3 years, there will be a similar group of talented, young, cheap players.

There are just too many feasible options at this level for the right price to break the bank on one.

Give him 12 mill a year and move him to the slot with a few speed sweeps thrown in every once in a while. Bingo. Found our WR2 and got Murray on the cheap

No way. We already have one very highly paid skilled player. We have a great scouting department. No need to tie up another top 3 salary in a skilled player.

We made the right call with making MT the one we paid.

I don't think we should break the bank for him but this is silly to say.. Should you take 1/3 less pay to help your job? He should, and will get paid by someone.. will it be the Saints? Yet to be determined. I think he matters if we bring in a rookie on a cheap deal or if we sign a massive FA QB contract.
