Those “real big fish” are called silent commits.

Webb, Dumervil, and Evans are reported to be in the boat.

Burch and Crawford were reported to be close. If we get all 5 of them we need to lose 3 more.

I expected decommits, just not this many specifically at these positions.

Or playing with fire... Coach O has and will get burned again with this tactic.

I’ve heard that Bill Johnson has significant input on which DL prospects they will focus on. I think you have to look at the 3-4 scheme fit when discussing the guys they parted with. Think of the Bosa types at DE.

At edge, there is no doubt Ojulari and Webb are the best fits for what Aranda wants. I’m not sure people realize how much Chaisson drops into coverage during games.

You mean guys that go in the top 5 of the NFL Draft? Yeh, I guess we would recruit those types

So you'd rather me come on here and say "Guys we're keeping Jordan Berry and passing on Jacobian Guillory... Staff just didnt think it was fair since Berry pinky promised to be in the class first." ? I mean at a certain point some of you really have to step back and see the forest for the trees. This is big boy football, and tough decisions have to be made in order to maintain the level we are at. If you dont process above average/great talent for elite talent, then you will continue to be above average/great but not elite.

Can we get a notification alarm when Vol posts? * No Sarcasm. I follow his posts more than anything else for recruiting.

yep, it is a ruthless, mean, and utterly necessary way of doing things.

And the idea of 'loyalty' to the state isn't gone, but it is not a primary concern anymore. It's still there, but not a determining factor.

And that 'loyalty' was unrequited anyway. It never really existed for most.

Yep, things can always go south. Some of these recruits that had room made for them can always change their mind and it will be bad. But it's a calculated risk; and a risk we have to take.

To many upset here: Look at it this way... the most ruthless thing, and probably strategically the smartest, we could do is send these recruits looking right before the elite guy signs. That way other teams won't know who to target to leave us hanging. But CEO isn't going that ruthless. He's taking a risk in doing them a favor and processing earlier than he really should.

I bookmarked one of his post from last year so I have a "shortcut" to see if he's posted anything new.

I agree with that 100%. I just hope that in the future we don't take guys we don't plan to hold on to (this cycle it is understandable because we have jumped a level).

I feel the same way. Idk about you, but I am curious as to why we took Hundley for 2021. I am no expert and have not watched the tape, but he doesnt seem like the type that would survive a class similar to this year.

Who knows maybe the staff saw something in him and he shoots up the rankings.
