im confused by baylor. the committee obviously hates them. they have kansas and oklahoma left, which seems like it's almost not enough to get them to jump up to 4.

seems to me like the order might be....

12-1 oklahoma
12-1 utah
11-1 alabama
12-1 baylor

not a single one is a longshot, but combined it's incredibly incredibly unlikely. i like it, though.

dare i say, georgia, if it's even relatively close. we would be ahead of all those teams heading into the final weekend and we'd be playing the highest ranked opponent.

It would be a nightmare scenario for the playoff committee and I want to see it so badly.

It would put to test what their criteria actually is.

Everyone will bitch and moan, but if Oregon beats Utah and Bama beats Auburn (especially if it’s decisive or a blowout) in Jordan-Hare then Bama probably gets in, even over a 1 loss Oklahoma. OU just hasn’t looked great against their schedule, they’ve struggled too much. Bama would have the eye test and the better loss, whereas OU would have a conference title. Committee probably leans Bama. Now if Oklahoma blows out Oklahoma State and Baylor that may change.

I don’t even care if Bama goes to the playoffs this year. We don’t have the roster with our injuries to win and I don’t think we’d even be very competitive with the other three who I view as elite.

That said, have you watched any of these other near elite teams they are talking about?

Utah has been playing with fire for weeks against mediocre (and I use that term generously) teams. They lack any sort of team speed and would get shredded by Bama even post Tua. They are west coast Wisconsin.

Oklahoma is just not very good. They’ve gone to a 60-70% run based attack because as Bama knew two years ago, Jalen is a one read QB. He’s basically a wishbone guy and Riley has had to throw out 75% of his playbook like Kiffin did to make him functional. They have been scratching out wins against basement B12 teams and have a borderline bad loss to KState with their premier win being Baylor in an improbable comeback.

Bama will have to beat Auburn to be in the conversation, but if they do they would be favored on a neutral field against Utah or OU significantly with their only loss being against the #1 team in the country by one score.

There are only three elite teams after Tuas injury, but of the near elite teams, Bama if healthy on the DL has a better argument to be in than the others.

Poor gumps, have resorted to touting their losses and hoping and praying for the eye test.

ETA: the only way Bama can pass the eye test is if they go into Jordan Hare and whip Auburn without Tua.

Otherwise, everything ya'll did throughout the season isn't even valid with Tua gone now.

Utah but they’ll lose to Oregon in the PAC-12 title game.

Utah's defense is stout, they have only allowed more than 7 points once (Washington) since the start of October.

WTF are you talking about. Utah has been bringing the wood, like your old beloved Bama teams. They would be a welcome addition to all these offensive team especially Oklahoma.

Utah two weeks ago beat UCLA 49-3...a team that just put up 35 on USC. THey could've been up 55-0 over Arizona last night in the 3rd quarter. Teams can't move the ball on them.

Arizona scored their lone TD down 35-0 with a minute left and scrubs in.

If Utah wins out, and they're not in...CFB is dead. A farce. Everybody goes on and on about Georgia, look out Utah D. They are on a record low for points allowed in a pass happy Pac-12.

Utah if they win out.

One loss OU, Baylor, Bama is a coin flip.

I don’t think we can beat Ohio State if we get in so it really won’t make that much of a difference to me this year.

Yeah I’m afraid of what Etienne, Dobbins, or CEH would do to this defense right now

The mulligumps crushed their vaunted opponent this weekend, Western Carolina.

They should be bumped to 2.

If bama goes to AU and beats them by 20 or so they will be a heavy favorite to get in no matter what okie or Utah do.

The metrics used for SOS are actually a complete joke in most cases. That’s why ESPN and Sagarin have LSU behind Bama in their rankings.

Bama has literally played one team with a pulse. Their best win to date is a 4 loss A&M. Think about that.

Baylor gets shafted for a weak OOC but Bamas is nearly as bad.
