Based on similarities with OSU 2018, LSU's defensive problems are probably scheme-related

Ohio State had a historically bad defense in 2018 that gave up an amazing number of long touchdowns to the opposition in 2018. "The 2018 Ohio State defense allowed more points (25.5) and yards (403.4) per game than any unit in school history." Looked similar to LSU's defense against Ole Miss. LINK [Amazing that OSU only lost 1 game with its horrendous defense]
For example, Oregon State runner had TDs of 80 & 78 yards. A 93 yard run by TCU. A 93-yard pass play by Penn State. Two 40 yard TD runs at Purdue & 43 yard TD pass. At Maryland an 81 yard and 75 yard run, both in the first quarter. LINK
Following that disastrous year, the defensive coordinator (Schiano) and LBs coach (Davis) as well as DBs coach were fired. With very much the same personnel, OSU is now a top five defense. The very good players from 2018 were confused and playing slowly due to bad coaching and an overly complex scheme. Now the same players are doing very well.

That’s an easy fix. Fire Schiano.

I'm not saying scheme is not an issue but there were several plays where players were in position to make a play but didn't. There were also some where the players were clearly out of position. For example the play where they faked an end around and Plumlee ran for a TD, I guarantee you that it was somebody's assignment to have backside containment. But that somebody bit on the end around and left the edge wide open.
I think too many guys on defense are playing undisciplined and trying to free lance instead of executing their assignments.

I think Aranda needs to hire a LB coach to help him with the group. They've looked really bad this year.

Do you can’t have similar problems with different causes?

The scheme worked friggin great against Bama! Everything Bama got, except the rushing attack, was due to winning one on one matchups with Stingley. The scheme had him in the right place, and I’d bet on Stingley doing a LOT better in a rematch.
LSU is 10-0, ranked #1, and beat the Gumps in Gumpland. I LOVE the scheme!
