Probably every 9-12 months.

The ice water passes through that filter as well.

Baton Rouge has very good tap water. I really don't understand why people drink so much bottled water in this town.

Never. I refuse to pay $50 for a fricking water filter that doesn't also suck my dick.

I have mine plumbed through a large external filter, think it's rated for well over 1,000 gallons and its only used for the ice maker. I change it every few years if I feel like it

Yea but do you want to drink water from the same thing that’s doing that?

Gross.

I change it when the indicator light goes fully red. I pick up my filters through Amazon and can get a 3-pack for about $30 shipped

Yeah I do it whenever it says to do it

The 3rd party filters are fine and much less expensive

The annoyance of getting air out exceeds any issue posed by the cost, IMO.

I have noticed that when the filter light turns yellow (replace soon) the ice maker starts to slow down making ice..I reset it and re-seat the filter and the ice maker is back to normal. I replace the filter every year or so. I think the filters cost around $35.

I change it when the ice starts to taste funny. It does help a lot but you have to get an OEM filter
