Thoughts on First Lite jackets

I've been hunting for nearly 30 years and have usually been one to steer clear of expensive hunting clothing because for so long it was about brand instead of functionality. However, I've finally come around and am looking at replacing my hunting wardrobe piecemeal in the next few months and am very interested in First Lite. I'm a duck and deer hunter, and I'm usually fairly stationary in a floating blind in flooded timber (boat in) or permanent deer stand (very little walking).
I'd never heard of FL until seeing it talked about on this board. I did some research and read some reviews and really like their lineup as well as their Cipher and Fusion patterns.
I'd normally start with base layers, but I figured I'd go ahead and drop the big coin on the jacket first so that my wife doesn't leave me when I start spending $100 on mid and base layers.
From the research I've done, my ideal layering would be Kiln crew for base, Furnace 1/4 zip for mid, and either Uncompahgre or Woodbury for outer.
That said, I'm torn between the Uncompahgre and Woodbury. I've read a ton of reviews on both and both seem to be beloved by those who use them. Interested in the thoughts from the board on these two, and FL in general.

The Uncompahgre is what I have. Great for cold sits. Not great for brush busting.

I support anything Steve Rinella does. He bought first lite. The man is legit and first class all the way. If he endorses it it is legit. Also has his own bourbon now. Definitely a man crush.
Hes the meateater tv show dude btw. His cook books are great too.

I have the catalyst jacket and pants and the thinner merino base layers. The jacket is kind of thin which makes it great for bow hunting. Its not the warmest jacket by itself though. Add or take away layers depending on temp.

Not really an apples to apples comparison. The woodbury is comparable to an uncompaghre jacket under a catalyst jacket shell.
I have both the woodbury and uncompaghre and the woodbury is a much warmer jacket for treestand sits. It is however more bulky so it depends if you are concerned with weight.

If you are only buying one, I think you should get the sanctuary. Extremely quiet, warm, and not bulky. I bow hunt in mine all the time with no issue so shouldering a gun for either deer or ducks would not be a problem.

Same, originally bought for our elk trip, but I use it in LA also, and I love it. Usually run a wool layer or two under if it gets real cold.

Do they make one that's half arse durable? I want to get a good high end outter layer but they all feel like one belly crawl would rip them to shreds

Not FL but the Kuiu Guide is pretty damn tough.

Well, I ordered one. If it sucks I'm going to downvote your arse

Sry, but that bourbon screams "buy our shite" to me. One can buy a nice bottle of bourbon for that price point but I have my doubts this one is of that quality.

Unpopular opinion here, but Rinella has lost some of the appeal that made his brand so likable. That bourbon pretty much explains it.

Nah, I'm with you on that. Hes a business man as much as a hunter though and it was to be expected

I thought about the bourbon like that but I think it's such a small batch that it probably doesn't touch the amount of money FL makes. Seems like more of something for fun.

I'm getting the katana jacket. Mainly because I didnt want the camo. Just the green.
It is really aggravating that all these companies will produce jackets in say loden green and then they wont make pants in loden, they will make them in olive green. Just make them in the same damn color.

I bought one a year or two ago that was on a Sale posting here. It is heavy and the thread tears easy. Warm put is the game winner I have that is the same weight.

I like black. I find black to be the best universal camo.

I can tell if you are being serious because you hunt box stands or if you are making fun of Jason Aldean.

Deers are color blind but you’ll look and feel great at the gas station while gathering sausage biscuits and diesel.
