Nobody is above critique and criticism. There are issues with the defense.

Be it the game planning, scheme, personnel, in-game adjustments, whatever it is, it needs to be addressed. You're not a negatiger by pointing out the obvious, and you're not a genius by pointing it out either.
However, those calling for Aranda's job are just as asinine as those blindly defending Aranda no matter what.
We are 10-0 with the chance at winning a national championship. That is cause for appreciation and relishing the season as we go.
Our offense is fire. The question becomes if the offense has any indication of consistent problems for a quarter, a half, or more in the SEC Championship or the playoffs, can this defense hold up enough to get us to victory. That's why there's concern and questioning.

It’s big plays for the most part. Some of it is scheme. Some of it is players. Some of it is the other team just calling a great play but they need to cut them down. Take those away and the last two weeks the final scores are totally different.

Eloquent thought. Well said

fricking THIS!!! I never knew that there were this many snowflakes in Louisiana! Anytime you express concern about anything then “Your not a real fan.” Ridiculous!!!

I have zero concerns or worries about this football team. We are 10-0 with issues that keep us from getting the big head. Last year Alabama was destroying teams. So much that a certain media guy listed them as his whole top 5 in College football. And we all know how that season ended.Although we have been suspect at times,we have also made key stops against good teams. And when we didn't our offense kept the pressure on the other teams defense. I am just enjoying this year, and can't wait to see how it all plays out. It is good to be undefeated and still have people say that you are not good enough to win it all. You're never going to please everybody, and you should never let that bother you.

There's a difference between expressing reasonable concern and areas of improvement and then there's this board who thinks Aranda should be fired.
Arandas defense is a big reason coach O weathered the storm and came out the other side when trying to find a fix for the offense. The defense has held up much more than its fair share of the load in years prior. Yes something is not right this year but saying Aranda should be fired now is a very short term memory type of thinking. We are weak in key spots of the defense where we haven't been in years past. One of our top 3 players on D is a true freshmen. Our d line can't get pressure without sending a DB or extra lb on the blitz. Mistakes will be made. It happens. A down year isn't a reason to fire someone. Many of the people on this board also forget that these are kids playing. They will have bad games as well due to emotions and other factors.

Those of us defending Aranda can see what the real issue is. There isn’t a defensive coordinator alive that could do any better than what Aranda has done with the players on defense that we have. We just don’t have a lot of depth on defense. That’s why we can play strong for half a game. We can’t keep players fresh enough through rotation.

And who recruited those players?

This current staff. We do have a lack of senior leadership, as the attrition from the 2016 class is significant. Our 2018 class also had some attrition. We need to be better on that front.

Well Amanda is starting to get the full load of his recruits now with few carryovers so the new motto is who cares if they score 70 we will just score 75. Fuk i dont know. If we ever lose a game will we just blame Burrow and the offense for only putting up 8 TDS?

No no no don’t try this. When it’s signing season Dave Arandas name isn’t mentioned once here for months, it’s all Ed Orgeron. So you can’t now turn around and blame Aranda for recruits just because they’re not ready or not performing. If Orgeron gets all the credit on signing day he gets all the blame now.

Aranda has been a really good coordinator in the past agreed.
Is he worth the money we are paying him this season and at the end of last year 2018 Arky, ATM, UCF? No he isn't worth 2.5 the past 12 games!!
That doesn't mean he needs to be fired, but when his contract is up we don't need to keep paying that crap. Especially when we can find guys who bring better blitz packages than him for 750K maybe 1 million.

It's Arandas job to either recruit players for his defense or to have someone else do it for him with his direction. If that isn't happening, it could be either Amanda's or Orgeron's fault. I don't know which.

Recruiting is a staff effort. Everyone has to be involved. It isn't solely Aranda's job. The current staff is trying to rectify our poor D-line recruiting that has been an issue since 2014. But that takes time and you will miss on some players. But the D-line has to be good enough to get pressure on their own for Aranda's scheme to work. They aren't at the moment.
Our 2016 and 2018 classes had an awful lot of attrition. Orgeron gets the blame as he has the ultimate responsibility, but it is a staff effort. It has to improve.

Orgeron selects the players he wants to recruit. Aranda can make suggestions but it’s ultimately Orgerons decision. If you’ve ever seen a college war room it’s like an NFL teams draft board that had a zombie outbreak. It’s 20x bigger with wall to wall names on a board with the HC and assistants deciding just like a GM and coaches in the NFL.

An aggressive offense like ours deserves an aggressive defense. Teams will be scrambling to keep up with us, why not add more pressure and force mistakes?

Big plays are part of the game. Giving up a few threw out the season is one thing. Giving up 6 or 7 in 2 games is a huge problem. LSU has given up to many of these plays.

With the entire secondary minus Stevens hurt we looked slow last night. Ole Miss had multiple guys we just couldn’t run with and that’s something you never see from an LSU defense. These injuries are killing us and I wonder if there’s anybody from the younger groups who could possibly help.

Stevens - #1 safety
Delpit - rated top safety in CFB last year
Fulton - 5 star
Stingley - 5 star
Vincent - 5 star
Phillips - #1 ILB
Queen - 4 star
Chaisson - 5 star
Lawrence - high 4 star
Fehoko - high 4 star
Shelvin - high 4 star
Ika - 4 star
Logan - 4 star
Ferrell - 3 star, but most consistent DL outside of Shelvin
Flott - 3 star, one of the more consistent DBs
I think that's a lot of quality players. The whole staff deserves some blame. Busch did great with the safeties last season, but they are struggling this year. Aranda is DC and LB coach and the LBs are not filling and making tackles at the LOS. Raymond's CBs have been inconsistent. The DL can't get a push. Blame O or the DL coach (forgot who the interim is). Half the team is playing hurt. Blame Moffit.
IDK. We have the talent to be better than this defensively. The D now is the worst on points, yards and yards per play since 2001. It's not TOP we are even with opponents. It's not number of plays on D. They are fewer on average than 2018.
We currently allow 30.7 points to our P5 opponents. Blame whoever you want, but it has to be fixed or the first game against a team with a pulse could end our run if the offense doesn't play lights out.

We really need another safety to step up. Also I think Brooks needs to play more, as his speed can negate some of the outside runs that teams seem to get against us.
