Those completion percentage numbers are shocking. The rules and modern offenses obviously favor the QBs, but damn....
yeah he's currently over 2% above Colt McCoy's record and he was 2.4% over 3rd place so McCoy's record was pretty crazy in and of itself. Now couple it with McCoy's record was throwing 8.9yds/att vs Burrow's 10.7 and it highlights just how crazy Burrow is this year. Unless something drastically changes he's having arguably the best season by a QB in NCAA history.

Brees.
Saints should pull a Ricky Williams sell the farm trade to nab burrow and let him learn under Brees for a couple years.

Bridgewater and Saints first round pick . Would that do it ?
You think LSU/Saints fans would be going apeshit if they announced that to start the draft ?!

LSU's WRs have said (in video interviews) that the 10,000 reps on the Jugs machine made the greatest difference in the WRs immediate and dramatic improvement...
But don't let direct statements from LSU's WR's get in the way of a Rant false narrative.

That's right. Hopefully he can meet that standard. Would be comically absurd to see an LSU QB do it.

Colton Brennan in 2006 was pretty insane, though a little easier competition.
quote:
Brennan posted a 182.8 passer rating while completing 72 percent of his passes for a ridiculous 5,549 yards and 58 TDs and 12 interceptions

Joe would certainly be more deserving of such a move than Ricky or Herschel. I'd be 100% in favor of it.

hard to compare QBs from 20+ years ago to ones today. Offenses are completely different.
Ironically the record holder for most yards in a season is Tim Couch who played 22 years ago. Here's his stat line from '97...
'97 Couch - 400-553, 4,275 yards, 36 TDs, 15 Int, 72.3%
'19 Burrow - 236-299, 3,198 yards, 33 TDs, 4 Int, 78.9%
Joe is going to break that record. The record for TD passes in a season is 44 by Drew Lock. Joe will break that one too.

Yeah Couch can be compared somewhat because he was under Mumme and his offense is still being successfully used today.

And he has the Ohio St. pedigree in the past which the Saints seem to like.

Expanding Joe's averages through the remainder of the season would be:
(318-399) 4,264 YRDs. 44 TDs 5 INTs
Expanding again through the hypothetical championship run:
(390-496) 5,325 YRDs 55 TDs 7 INTs
(318-399) 4,264 YRDs. 44 TDs 5 INTs

Let me extrapolate for you.
Assuming his numbers hold and there's no reason for us to think that they won't, and he makes it to the national championship game. Here are his numbers on the season
'19 Burrow - 4,975 yards, 51 TDs, 6 Int, 78.9%, 367/465, 10.7 YPA
... and he isn't even going to face another defense like Auburn which really hurt his numbers
ETA: shite. yall beat me to it.
ETA: Brennan and Burrow actually have a matching opponent. Obviously, there are a ton of variables here and InB4 'transitive property' but here are the numbers.
'06 Brennan vs Alabama - 350 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int, 68.2%, 30/44, 8.0 YPA
'19 Burrow vs. Alabama - 393 yards, 3 TDs, 0 Int, 79.5%, 31/39, 10.1 YPA
And suffice it to say that a Mike Shula coached, 6-7, 2006 Alabama team is not a Nick Saban coached, 2019 Alabama team.

Troy Smith won the Heisman with a record 91.6% first place votes. That's a record landslide vote. Joe has already destroyed his numbers from that season.
'06 Smith - 203-311, 2,542 yards, 30 TDs, 6 Int, 65.3%, 204 yards rushing, 1 TD
'19 Burrow - 236-299, 3,198 yards, 33 TDs, 4 Int, 78.9%, 189 yards rushing, 3 TDs
I can only get so erect...

Regardless of his level of competition or lack thereof, what Colt Brennan did at Hawaii is amazing

It absolutely is but schedule and level of competition definitely matters. Put Burrow in the offense against that competition and what happens?
