1 isn't happening. People need to stop being paranoid about it.

Both Ohio State and Minnesota making the playoff is the best chance to get an bigger playoff, the entire country except for the Midwest would outraged and demand expansion.

then they'll expand. They don't need to create a frick up to do so.

why would Bama complain, they had a chance on the field and lost

Rule #1 of the CFP. If you have a loss, don’t bitch

The committee can’t expand it on their own.

Samuel, you give Bama way way way too much credit for having this “power” you speak of.

100% expansion scenario.

Clemson loses ACCCG - 12-1
OSU loses to Minn - 12-1 and 13-0
UGA loses to Auburn, beats LSU - 11-2 and 12-1
Bama 11-1
OU goes 11-2
Oregon goes 11-2

I have no clue how they would rank everyone, but it opens the door for an all Big10/SEC CFP.

I didn’t want to start a thread to do this but back in early August, I gave Alabama, LSU, and Auburn all three equals shots at winning the Western division this season. You mocked and laughed at me hard when I did it to. I think it’s safe to say that I am vindicated now?

I think that might do it. There would be some hell raising going on if they did that and it probably would lead to 6 or 8 teams

I'm not sure why everybody is under the impression Alabama is some all powerful entity. It's not even that big of a school in terms of alumni and revenue. There's far more anti-Bama sentiment out there than pro at this point.

The entirety of the PAC12 and Big12 complaining is obviously a bigger deal.

I like a 4 team playoff but the moment it was created people knew there was a huge issue, 5 power conferences, 4 spots. That means every year you are guaranteed that at least 1 major conference is going to get left out, that situation is something that was always going to create tension.

A system where all 5 power conference champions guaranteed a spot is inevitable.

The current TV contract for the playoffs runs through 2025. With ESPN bleeding money there is no way the NCAA will want to renegotiate a new playoff expansion TV contract.
