Are any of our current commits eligible for a blue shirt?

You can’t take an official visit if you are going to blue shirt

Anyone that WOULD greyshirt or blueshirt is a player that isn’t good enough.

We are in a position to turn away 4 stars, yet you want to kick the can down the road and possibly have to turn one away next year because you want to sign 30 this year?

It’s stupid. The bill comes due at some point.

Blue shirting requires both:

1. No official visit
2. No in person, arranged, off campus meeting with a coach

I would think the 2nd would be very difficult to satisfy

blue shirt

Since the new signing rules were implemented, blue shirt isn't a thing in football. Recruited or non recruited, it doesn't matter. An athlete could walk on in the fall, receive a scholarship in the spring and count towards the 2021 numbers, or he could grey shirt and count towards the 2021 numbers. A new comer can't receive a scholarship in the fall once the 25 signee limit has been reached.

Blueshirting is incredibly difficult.

As others mentioned no visits, contact, etc.

But it is more than that- it is intended for a fully un-recruited player, in any shape form or fashion.

Got a direct mail- recruited.
Attended a camp, even at your own expense- recruited.
Told Coach A that Coach B expressed interest- recruited.

There's only 2 areas where I see it applying in today's game at this level of football:

1. A family member/legend where dad made sure that son was going to his alma mater and ensured there was no contact. AU couldn't even blueshirt Nix... why? Because pops is a booster and that constituted contact and was considered recruited.

2. A foreign born student who just shows up out of nowhere with some special skill. Think the movies and/or kickers coming from the intramural soccer team.
