Cut his completion percentage on short passes in half. Bama had been killing teams with the RAC all year. LSU manned up and used linebackers to eat up passing lanes. They gave up a few lucky and not so lucky deep balls, but they made Bama work for every damn yard.

Exactly!
This is what's being lost on everyone. Our corners played their receivers man to man in press coverage most of the night. Yes, they gave up some big plays. But they pretty much shut down that "vaunted" slant game we'd been hearing about ad nauseum. Additionally, we held Bama UNDER THEIR SCORING AVERAGE. I'm happy with the defense.

Aranda took away what they killed teams with.

we knew they were gonna score points on us regardless coming in, as they would on any defense in the country. our defense balled the frick out yesterday. great game called by aranda aside from the long TD to smith at the end of the game. being in anything other than prevent in that situation is a head scratcher

That's impressive. I think if we wouldn't have given up that punt return, it basically would have been game over in the 1st half with how our D was playing. But credit to Bama for getting it and then making their way back.
