He’s gonna be sued for all that money. Well, first they are gonna ask him nicely for it back.

left a job that I worked for 9 years and had a ton of vacation time accumulated (467 days). I figured they would lump sum me and be done, but every 2 weeks I got a pay check. I guess they would pay for the next 15 months. After 4 months I looked at the pay stub and realized I was not getting paid vacation time but work time. I called my old boss and told him what was happening. He told me the company was hoping I would come back and appreciated all the work I did so they kept paying me. I told him I had a new job and the following check was vacation time. They paid me for the next 15 months for vacation. Was a sweet deal.g
What company did you work for that didn't cap vacation time you could carry forward?
Also did you not take a vacation day in 9 years? Damn baw.

Is it? Not arguing. If he had made an attempt to do both jobs, is it illegal for two companies to pay you?

Obviously it would depend on the situation. If he was working two full time jobs with the same hours and responsibilities, vs delivering pizza on the weekends.
I’ll try to find the story where this happened a few years ago

I work for a fortune 5 company and work from home. I swear we could moonlight and nobody know. At minimum drive for Uber or Lyft.
My coworker literally just shows up on conference calls once a week, never talks and the only time anyone sees an email or call from him is after 5pm.
We all think he has a 8-5 gig and pulling extra from this job. He’s been with us 6 years. Pretty genius
I work from home right now and I think I could pull this off. I've been looking at ways to write freelance at the same time. Going to start trying next week.

I worked for a large company for about 7 years. When I was leaving, I gave them a 4 week notice as a courtesy and they gladly accepted. At the end of my 4 weeks, my manager told me to take some time and think about it. They paid me for about 3 months.

Anyone who can go 7 months without showing any signs of working for a company should be allowed to keep what they earn because management is beyond stupid.
With that said, would probably work at my company.

What kind of frickin worthless job did he have if they don’t even notice you are gone for 7 months

He would come into the office once a month and get his arse chewed out and go right back out.
I LOL'd hard at this. Good for him! Hilarious how managers are willing to pay people just to yell at them.

He probably had some huge long time producing accounts that management knew would leave if he were gone.
Inwouldnimagine they either finally lost the big account or felt confident they would be able to retain his accounts thru knew relationships.
Probably was a win/win for both sides

Where are the outraged morons who kept pulling his work load for no extra pay? If there aren’t any, then company deserved this “fine” for the idiocy of a position with no actual purpose.

true, this is fraud. He could be arrested. There was a high profile case a while back where the company pursued this.
Because company A was too poorly managed to realize he quit?

Some dude on Reddit last year posted his story as a forgotten employee.
Essentially he worked in a remote location from the rest of his department. His department got downsized and I guess they were all told in person except OP (because he didn't work in the office). HR/payroll never processed his layoff so he kept getting checks.
He knew his department got shuttered, and he stopped receiving assignments via email as he had before, but no one from the company actually told him that he was fired or anything and he still got a check twice a month.
Said he just chilled in the office, played video games and got a bunch of certifications online until he got too bored and quit about 2 years later.

Incompetency does not excuse fraud.

I've used plenty of software that would have been vastly improved by stranding half the development team on sailboats.
Check out how much memory Microsoft Outlook is using to run email and a calendar, for example. Sometimes less really is more, Gene.

I guy that worked for my wife (sorry no pics) did this in the pharmaceutical sales industry. She found out and called his new company and was able to get his start date out of their HR dept.
He was double dipping for at least two months. Her company demanded he repay them for the time he started working for the new company. They were able to recover the money that they paid him,
Got heem!
This shite happens all the time in outside sales when you don't have to report to an office regularly.
