Updated-Wells Fargo stoke $6k from me

We had our house painted and gave the painters a check because it was 1.5% cheaper. Wells Fargo somehow misread the check and took out 6 grand extra. The check was $3800 and they took out $9800. When we called, they said it was clearly a clerical error but they couldn’t refund me the money until their fraud team looked at it. After b&m’ing and speaking to multiple supervisors, they told me there is nothing they can do until it is reviewed by the fraud team even though it is a clear error.

Do I have any course of action? I’m closing down our accounts as soon as I get all my money back but anything else? BBB? It is only $6k but the fact they can take it so quickly but not give it back is scary.

Update- received a call from WF this morning from some manager/president dude apologizing and letting us know it has all been settled. I did let him know we will be pulling all our money out and switching banks because of the poor customer experience but something tells me they don’t care. Just glad I got my money back.
