For a 14 year old? I would tell you about studies that indicate changes in brain chemistry for teenage pot smokers but I'm sure that wouldn't change your mind because of all the FACTS that you know.

That's only with chronic use. Using a few times isn't going to do anything.

I would need to find the study but my recollection is that the threshold is much lower in the adolescent brain. So 14 would be on the cusp of that developmental period.

Chronic acetaminophen use will destroy your liver, but you probably have no problem giving your kid Tylenol. It's all about moderation.

My kids never tried to access acetaminophen behind my back for the purposes of getting high. I'm not arguing that a kid will smoke pot a couple of times and be ruined for life, if that were true I'd be in a pretty bad place now and I'm not. I'm just pointing out that all things come with risks, particularly with adolescents. Monitoring and controlling your kids access to something that they WANT to use is considerably more difficult than something like Tylenol. Stating that Tylenol is more dangerous than pot may be true in many respects but it is not nearly an absolute nor is Tylenol more dangerous when properly used for the average healthy adult who has no conditions which impacts their liver.

How do you prefer the guys handle the pains of playing football?

You are the kind of guy that sees a report of someone who gets caught shoplifting, flees from the police, turns and shoots at the police, gets killed when the police return fire.......and THEN thinks that someone just got KILLED by the POLICE for shoplifting.

I think that's what the kids on this site struggle with. It's not that most of the adults think it's a good law, but, it is the law currently. When smoking weed could hurt the opportunity for life changing money and a career, it isn't a good look that you don't have the discipline to abstain. ESPECIALLY when you have already had multiple warnings.

The solution is for this state to legalize marijuana recreationally, and get rid of the compliance discrepancies that exist here versus the other P5 schools.

If you don’t want to smoke marijuana, good for you. But I do. Obviously, many of our best athletes do. I pay taxes, more than most outside of the OT ballers on this board. My children are 17 and 14 and at the top of their classes academically. I much prefer my older children smoking marijuana to drinking. 33 on the ACT, and he will not be attending university in this state because I don’t want him to encounter legal issues.

This state is the a-hole of this country as far as our laws. Not sure why we decided that we would be so hardcore but based on every single poll that had been done in recent years, a clear majority favors full legalization. NCAA rules do not have any bearing on what our compliance department does.

I'm 61, smoked recreationally through my twenties, Quit. I was diagnosed with a degenerative neuro-muscular disorder in the same family as ALS or "Lou Gherigs disease". I have smoked it a few times when my muscles were so drawn up I could hardly function. If it's good stuff I could feel my muscles relaxing after only a couple of tokes. Where taking pills takes an hour or more if it even worked. I don't enjoy the buzz anymore so I don't do it for that reason and the fact it's illegal.

Of course we have...and we’ve suffered the consequences of that choice. The same as Divinity. Only his consequences may cost him a lot more in the long run...which makes his situation much worse.
Making a pro team is the only way 95% of these athletes will earn a nice living. Screwing that up because they can’t stop smoking weed is ridiculous.

you seem to be a perfect candidate for medical marijuana. I don't know the details and restrictions for getting a medical marijuana prescription, but you seem to be a good candidate.

Wouldn't it also make sense that their bodies are better able to handle it than the bodies of their counterparts 20 years ago?
