the teenagers here can’t relate, but of course you go to the recital. DVR the game and turn off all radio, texts, notifications, etc. Watch when you get home. Not ideal, but it is all you can do.
I had to miss the 10-0 game 3 years ago because of my daughter’s swim meet on Saturday night.
Of course you try to avoid scheduling stuff during game day, but family is different. Go and enjoy the recital. Your daughter will remember, years from now, that daddy was always there. That stuff matters.

Hit the EASY button: you call CBS, kindly explain the situation, apologize for your wife’s blondeness in getting the times mixed up and politely ask them to move the game to prime time kickofff.
You get to see your kid’s dance recital; CBS gets higher advertising revenue and ESPN gets a sizable buyout.
Everybody wins!

quote:...he should watch it on his phone and make a bunch of trips to the concession stand / restroom in between his daughters dances... hell, have the wife text you when it’s her dance.... if there’s a will, there’s a way....
I feel like he won’t get out of the recital without finding out who wins

It’s a CBS game. You’ll only miss the first quarter.

Bring a laptop, headphones and watch it. Just make sure you can get good WiFi there

That's just devilishly wicked.
The urge to purge can ruin an LSU football viewing experience.
I remember back in 2001 I got a case of salmonellosis from eating tainted food from a local Cracker Barrel. The day of the Tennessee SEC Championship game I was violently ill and spent more time on the terlet than in front of the TV. It was torment.

Your wife and daughter should understand if you decide to sit it out.
You won't though, I would suggest turning your phone off and leaving it at home. Don't turn it on until you finish watching the game. I can't tell you how many times I've intercepted a score or something unintentionally on my phone. Just turn it off.

What is wrong with men these days? Skip the recital. There will be one in the spring. And probably the nutcracker and Cinderella. They do something every couple of months. My dad missed all my football games growing up for LSU games and I turned out just fine.

It’s a fricking dance recital for an 11 year old.
If that’s the worst thing you do as a father, you’re doing fine. Promise to do something special for her and buy her a nice gift. Watch the recital together after the game.

You stream the game on your phone with no volume while you attend your daughter’s event

Go to your daughter’s recital. Not even close.
