Found an article in the WSJ this morning with short stories submitted from readers that described the best financial advice they ever got. Any advice/stories from the millionaires of the OT?

Actually probably one of the few that would be worth it, IMO

This one has served me well.

The easiest way to double your money is to fold it half and stick it back in your pocket.

Everything I learned about finances I learned in kindergarten.

Had my first mortgage at the age of 19. Worked 12 hour shift work job. Paid that first house off when I was 37. Haven't had a car note after 1984, at 26, because I've always paid cash for nice new cars.
Never pay on credit except for cars and mortgage. Have fun, but don't be stupid. Don't keep up the the Joneses, and you will soon surpass them in wealth. Keep mortgages to 15-18 years. DO NOT PAY STUPID CREDIT CARD INTEREST!!!!

Good practical advice. I always say, "if it makes you money, its ok to borrow money (sensibility), if it doesn't make you money, pay cash."

Cars get to you to work to make money, houses appreciate in value. Boats, campers, ATVs, etc, depreciate more than cars.

Never pay 600.00 for a new phone, make your coffee at home, pay yourself first.

Ah yes the refrain of every person who was trying to defend why they didn’t buy a house but were spending the money traveling the world instead.
