Has anyone drank these? They have them for $15 in a 15 pack of 12 oz cans which is a great price but man I just cannot get on board. Have tried a few times. I dont know if Ole Striefer is putting garbage in these or what, but they give me an instant headache and just jn general are not as tasty as any of the other mexican beers. What say you?

I'm not a fan of their beers period. They're initials are literally POO.

It's a watered down Dos Equis or Pacifico.
Hope that helps.

I wouldnt say watered down. There is something innately heavy about it that I dont want in my mexican beers, and bitter like it wants to be an IPA. I actually poured an entire can out after work which if you knew me, that says a lot that I couldnt stomach it. I am known to eat ladyfish and bluefish, and drink straight expresso from the sh*tty stovetop percolator. Not picky.

Anyone else notice how it seems like in New Orleans, the quality of a brewery’s beer is inversely proportional to how nice and inviting the brewery facility is?

I really haven't had anything from Port Orleans that made me say "Oh, I think I'll have another."
That hasn't happened to me since ole 40 Arpent was around...then Wayward Owl...
However, Strief and Mr. Blue Runner have the funds to keep that going just from on-premise sales.

At least it seemed like Wayward was starting to turn the corner. I genuinely enjoyed a couple of their beers towards the end.
Port Orleans is just awful. Every once in a while they will make something that is ok but I don't need another. They OFTEN make things that I just don't even want to finish. I keep wanting for them to get better, so I use to occasionally give a new beer there a shot. I'm done now though. Too many good options in the area to keep trying their beers.

I met some friends at Port Orleans the other week who wanted to check it. I had a "Coffee Break" Stout and a "Raspberry Coffee Break" Stout. Both were serviceable. I think it would be the last brewery I'd pick in New Orleans for beer. It's a shame because the layout and food are nice.

I gave it two tries but I didn’t really enjoy any of the 5 or so beers I had. The actual brewery is very nice and the food is good but the beer needs work. I don’t understand why they don’t change their brewer.

I like the Gleason IPA but I'm not sure if it's because of the connection to Steve.
The RoyalTea might be the worst beer brewed in the city.

I like the Tropical Gleason more than the regular. That's probably the only beer from them I've had that I'd be happy to drink again.
The Coffee Break one is serviceable, but I'm not going to buy it over Parish Reve, Great Raft Creature of Habit or even Founders Breakfast Stout.

Lots of people judge Port Orleans from Day 1 but haven’t even been back. They’ve been open more than 2 years and have had a new head brewer now for the past 7 months. A few of my favorites:
Gleason IPA - delicious and crushable at 5.8% ABV. Why don’t more breweries make more sessionable IPAs? I’d rather drink 4 Gleasons than 2 double HazeBros because of how I’ll feel in the morning
3-day weekend - its a great intro to sours as they actually put Lactobacillus in the mashtun to lower the acidity of the beer. They add hibiscus and lime in the fermenters and it’s truly a crushable ale.
Jack o melon Gose - just released and its not as sour as your urban south Gose beers but it’s delicious.
Mango lassi - my wife’s (and co-owner of brew bus) favorite beer. Subtle mango with a nice slightly spicy earthy cinnamon and nutmeg on the back end
Kennerbrah kolsh - great name and an easy replacement for those BMC drinkers
As someone else mentioned, the coffee break and raspberry coffee break are both great beers.
Their new saison releasing this weekend is phenomenal too.
Others have already said it as well the taproom is one of the best in the city. You don’t have to like all their beers to find ones you can enjoy.
Our tours rotate between Port Orleans, NOLA, miel, urban south, Brieux Carre and soon to be Dixie. We always ask our guests their favorite brewery and Port Orleans gets mentioned equally among all places. I’m not being a homer here what I said is a fact. 95% of our customers don’t even live in Louisiana so what PO offers may not be for your liking but folks all over America enjoy the brewery.

I agree. People who compare it to Wayward Owl are way off base. They do a good job and have some creative beers.
