No Hot Water

Looking for any ideas as to why I'm not getting any hot water out of my Kitchen sink. I have hot water everywhere else in the house.

Someone shut off the valve below the sink?

How far away is the water heater from the kitchen sink? My water heater is a ways and it takes a while before the water ever gets hot, maybe 30 seconds to a minute of constant running before the water will start getting hot.

I checked the valve and it’s indeed on and the hot water is directly above the kitchen in the attic.

Did this just happen, or has it always been like this?

Turn off the cold water shut off....do you get water flow?

I just moved into this home, it wasn’t on the inspection report and had hot water during the walk thru. Currently I only have the hot water on and cold off with no results. This is baffling to me. I’m about to contact a plumber.

So no water flow? I would replace the cutoff valve and see if that works.

I appreciate the enthusiasm potent357; I am getting water out of the faucet from the Hot.

You say you just moved in? Has the house been vacant for awhile? There is a good chance that you have some small piece of scale or debris from the water heater that clogged the hot water shut-off valve or the hot side of the faucet. Running the water during the inspection may have clogged it.

That's my take on this. Shut off the water at the meter or where it comes into the house. open your faucets to drain as much water as you can.
Crawl under the sink and take the hot water side apart including the shut-off valve. I'd bet dollars to donuts there's debris in the shutoff valve or the valve is faulty and somehow shut itself off not allowing water to pass.

Puzzling.....sounds like a bad faucet.
How about turning off the hot valve and opening up just the cold. Same thing? Just wondering if they switched up the lines.
If you could disconnect the tube from the hot valve and see if you get hot water there, it would let you know if the faucet is bad/needs a new cartridge.

I’ll give this a try. Thanks!!

If you have a mixing valve, then that is the problem. My tub did it 2 years ago. Mixing valve broke so all I was getting was cold water no matter which was turned on. The valve is no allowing hot water to reach the fixture.

Maybe you have 2 water heaters and the one going to the kitchen went out?
