The popular vote is going democrat. This is a fact.

Only because of LA and NYC.

Trump won the rest of the country outside those 2 cities by 3-4 million.

It's def blue in the metro and valley areas, but, the rural and suburban areas are strong red.

If that border stays open, I don't think there is any hope.
Texas, by and large, runs on auto-pilot. The Red suburbs have their own school systems and government budgets/tax base. State government is sort of out of sight, out of mind in Texas. The way it should be.

Only a matter of time.

Dems will get enough third world immigrants there to turn the tide and destroy Texas soon enough.

It is one of their stated goals.

Too much immigration from California and the southern border.

The bigger driver of Texas turning purple will be native Texan voters under the age of 35. The kids are entitled.

Just FYI, younger kids are too stupid to know what they are voting for. The expansion of Federal taxes and entitlements is a direct transfer of money from poor to rich because of our country's demographics. Tack on top of that unfunded pensions for retiring Boomers. You can't "tax the rich" to pay for those liabilities, because rich=old. Same with the concept of free healthcare. The money goes from poor (young) to rich (old).

I think it's possible that this message can get through the thick skulls of Millenials and Gen Zers. I think people are way too pessimistic about Texas turning blue. There will be a conservative vacuum somewhere else if that happens, but in the mean time, kids aren't going to put up with more taxes IMO.

More than likely people under 35 will lean red or blue on how they feel about Trump. This could change Texas for Decades.

This map is skewed red because Abbott had an extraordinarily weak challenger.

Show Texas county-by-county Beto v. Cruz, or even Hillary v. Trump 2016. It will look much, much different from the 2018 gubernatorial election.

20,000 people inside the AA Center for the Trump rally and another 30,000 outside while the rally was going on. At the same time Beta was having a rally in a 6,000 seat theatre. It was half filled.

Beto

Beto going from "moderate" in the state race to completely off the deep end in this pathetic attempt at a presidential run is going to stunt the growth of the dems in Texas. The suburban women that voted for him are like the crazy lefties like yourself of whom love to hear he's going to take tax exempt status away from churches.

Yeah I think Trump will take Texas this go around but it sounds like Texas is going the same direction as my state of Georgia. We're getting to the point where we are barely hanging on, the rural areas are still solidly conservative for the most part but the democrats have taken over the cities. It's a disturbing trend.

Do you realize how close the Beto-Cruz election was?

Democrats are against the border wall for a reason. When Texas goes blue its over for the GOP. Basically the President will be determined by the inner-city voters.

Some of this sentiment is because so many republican lost city elections to dems. It was widely shown that straight ticket voting contributed to this. There will be no straight ticket voting option in the next election.
