I've heard rumblings about changing how tSEC schedules it's football games.

I wouldn't hold my breath on this.

Plus I just hate Florida. I lived in the state for 11 years, I've been to that stadium once, will not go again, with that being said, they generally have a tough defense which helps us, provided we win. They have gone through ups and downs but their defense usually is pretty consistent. Playing a good team makes you better.

Or you can be like Bama and beat up on a bad team in their permanent rival, Tennessee, and win but it doesn't help your SOS.

I don't get it. A round robin would be better. We played UGA last year. Bama has only faced them either in the SEC CG or the playoffs. I do think they play them next season but I'm not sure on that 100%. But Fromm will more than likely be gone, how convenient. I understand the schedules are made several seasons ahead of time but it just seems odd for it to always fall in favor of Alabama. It's just strange.

I like the rivalry, because of how emotionally charged it has become. That's what a rivalry is supposed to feel like. Fans on both sides want to pretend that it's not a rivalry because, apparently, they think it legitimizes the other team to admit they are a rival. But it is clearly a full fledged rivalry, whether anyone wants to admit it or not.

Unlike the total empty, hollow "rivalry" that the Ole Miss game supposedly is. That was a rivalry 50 plus years ago.

But I wish we could play Georgia a little more often.

Yes. Not because I don't think it's good rivalry but because it's more important to do away with cross division opponents. The SEC should abandon divisions and expand to a 9 game conference schedule. Let the teams with the two best records play in the SECCG. Allow each school to retain 3 or 4 traditional rivals and rotate the rest. Then we could play Georgia, Tennessee more frequently.

I'll allow it if it means Alabama has to drop the Vandy "rivalry."

Me too - this 'rivalry' situation is all out of whack - all East teams ought to be on same rotation frequency with all West teams.

More games against Florida, more opportunities to beat Florida.

The United Alabama doesn’t.

Seriously though, I like the rivalry and it is usually a very good game. But it does out LSU at a disadvantage when other teams have a permanent east opponent that is not good and likely will not be good for the foreseeable future.

It creates a competitive imbalance that hurts LSU.

I want the cross-division rivalries to end. If we keep them, I'm fine with it being Florida but I think they're stupid.

I wouldn’t say they did it to make it easier. Tennessee was actually good when all this started.

But they did do it for the sole purpose of keeping the TSiO and AU-UGA going uninterrupted

No I love playing them. We need to play 3 cross divisions games so that we play every east team within a reasonable time frame.

Stick them in the rotation with all the others. Play nine a year.

It wont end until Tennessee gets good again which might be never. They certainly should have a rotation where you play every school in your conference over a 4 year stretch.

Name another method that allows your team to play a more fair schedule and allows you to play almost every team in the league 3 out of 4 years. Your way is bad because one team has Vandy and a different team has Bama as a permanent opponent. The premise of the discussion was that LSU has to play Florida every year. I’d prefer to play all teams. JMO

I can't name another method. The approach to scheduling will never be to make sure each of the teams play all the other teams as much as possible. There will never be a schedule rotation devised where the following games are not played every year:

Alabama-Auburn
Florida-Georgia
Tennessee-Vanderbilt
Ole Miss-Miss State

For starters. Those games will always be played. So any schedule rotation must allow for those games. To a lessor extent, these games will always be played as well:

LSU-Ole Miss
LSU-Alabama
LSU-Texas A&M
and maybe
LSU-Florida

Each team will have a group of opponents they wish to play every year.

The pod system allows for that. And then, we could have a SEC Championship Game between the top two teams.

Let's just hope there isn't a tie between #2 and #3 and they haven't played each other...

I can tell you I’m ready for a different format. I like the method you showed far better than the current method. Personally, I get that Alabama wants to play Tennessee every year and that Auburn wants to play Georgia every year and so on. However, who likes the current format where LSU won’t play at Georgia but once every decade?

The SEC is a mutha fvcker and every single team in the league has enough talent to win against LSU if they don’t play well. The SEC West is really an unfair division it’s so tough.

Personally, I’d prefer LSU play every team in the league at lest every other year than have to play Alabama every year. Don’t get me wrong, Alabama is my favorite game. However, I don’t necessarily care for the fact that teams like Florida and Georgia don’t have to play Alabama every year. LSU doesn’t have that rivalry like other SEC teams do. The SEC West is a bitch.

LSU’s litmus test they have to pass every year to get to the SEC Championship game is really unfair compared to any team in any conference anywhere.
