Anyone notice that there’s a lack of Louisiana oysters? Went to Shucks last night and they are having to import them from the west coast. Saying that they can’t get Louisiana oysters because of too much fresh water.

Feel like this is one to be one of the downsides to freshwater/sediment diversions.

Louisiana may have to make some sacrifices if they don't want to lose everything. Take that for what you will.

I ran across an oyster boat on the water 2 days ago, Pedro and Santos were working the boat and sold me a whole sack for $25.00 . Some areas are hurting but there are still plenty around. Supply and demand. Can't believe they let the sack go for $25.00.

Coincidentally, this past March while visiting the Apalachacola Bay Area in FL. We were surprised that we were being served LA oysters. Reason was both BP spill and Hurricane Micheal.

Especially when you hit any seafood retailer and it's no less than $45 for what they call a half sack today. And that is no more than 7 1/2 to 8 dozen oysters.

Back before BP blew up in the Gulf I was getting 100 lb. whole sacks for $25 and they had between 19-22 dozen in a sack depending on the size of the oysters.

Check your steamed Maryland crabs next time you are on the Chesapeake Bay. Chances are they are Louisiana crabs.

I haven’t bought any sacks lately but my neighbor brought me a gallon of Wilson’s Oysters Friday. Man they were good.
