It stars Katja Herbers as a criminal psychologist who joins up with priest-in-training Luke Cage - I mean David Acosta - and an Indian computer expert to help the Catholic Church deduce whether certain people are in need of an exorcism or if they are just psychologically disturbed.

So far the show has been fairly neutral regarding the presence of the supernatural. There are things going on that can't be explained, but a majority of their major cases so far have been resolved with science. Though I feel like that will soon end as there have been hints that demonic forces are indeed at work in the show.

We're loving it, so far.

Personally, I'd have preferred John Glover to have played the role that Michael Emerson is doing, as Glover was EXQUISITE as the Devil in Brimstone, back on Fox in 2000, but I'm a huge fan of his when it comes to sinister roles. I hated to see him wasted on a one-off performance this week.

The thing I find interesting is the use of pedestrian names for the demons. All tremble at the fearsome might of George, demon of nightmares...

Come on.

Diablo III alone has gotten the names of sinister demonic forces out into the mainstream.

Asmodeus, Belial, Azmodan, Beelzebub... George.

Really?

I'm pretty sure George isn't a real demon though. He's a night terror that she just happened to be sharing with her daughter.

I’m enjoying it but trying to figure out exactly how much I am enjoying it.

I also think they are quickly using up the utility of the “oh this is really supernatural - oh wait - dramatic reveal of how it’s really science” or vice versa too much. It’s happening in the case and the overall personal stories of the characters several times. I get it’s the point or if the show, I just think it will be tiresome if continued to be done in the same way.

I agree, but the writing for that wrinkle is weak AF.

It is a little weak, I agree, but I think it's the writers trying their best to keep the big reveal at bay for a little bit. I have no doubt that actual demons will manifest themselves soon enough and our trio of heroes will be in for some deep shite when that happens.

They've already shown hints of the supernatural with the apparition on the hospital camera feed as well as the case of the Broadway producer this past week. It's also very likely that Michael Emerson's character is either a demon or a person who sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for something.

I think the writing will pick up when the show is no longer hampered by the science of skepticism.

My wife and I are digging this one so far. It's really good for a network show these days.

Glover can be a very creepy guy, He played the sadistic villain in 52 Pick-up, based on the Elmore Leonard novel.

I'm watching but waiting for something. Not sure what.

I want to like it. I like the cast. Not sure the point of it all.

Wife and I like it. I agree it is still finding its legs but each episode has offered something different. I felt the lead female was trying too hard to mimic Jodie Foster from Silence of the Lambs in the pilot but she's backed off a little since then. Luke Cage has done well, a little more stiff with delivery at times. I agree it is going to go more supernatural the deeper they delve into the cases. Hope it makes it more than one season so they have time to explore some things.

It's my favorite new show of the season at this point. Really curious to see where it goes. I'm sure we'll find out soon that the demons are definitely real, but not sure how many of the cases will be actual demons.

I like the balance of "some stuff is explained, some stuff is evil" they appear to be going for. I wouldn't mind seeing setups where one week they explain something with science, while finding a real demon stretches over multiple episodes.

I'm also curious about what Michael Emerson's character really is. A demon? Just a bad guy? Something in between?

I'm enjoying the insidious wickedness of Michael Emerson's character, Leland. Agitating the incels to violence was a nice touch. (FWIW, the former 8chan didn't operate like a voice chat room, as depicted, however).

If y’all aren’t watching this you’re missing a good one. The wife and I have this as appointment TV now. The battle between what is spiritual, psychological, and physical is really well done.

It's my favorite show of the year so far and looking forward to where they go with it.

I love that Emerson is playing Leland as Linus was my favorite character in Lost.

Also, Katja Herbers is sexy as hell. I remember when she appeared in Westworld I was hoping she'd get picked up in another show.

Season finale was great. That show is the only network TV show to make me feel uncomfortable.
