There aren't any insurance carriers anywhere in the United States who offer insurance to cover football so they are all self-insuring.

When I was the starting QB for my high school I had to sign a waiver saying I'd be responsible for any injuries.

I can tell you that my badminton, fencing, lacrosse, and jai alai squads were all fully covered. Oh how i miss breaking the collective will of those crumb bums from East Cape Finishing School.

Parents health care.

Unless you can prove some negligence on someone then go after the school/ school boards insurer

Bossier Parish has supplemental insurance that pays what you private insurance doesn't. That's how we do things up here is East Texas!

When I was in high school (2007-2010), we would sign up for Sports Medicine if I remember correctly. That would cover any doctor's appointments that were sports related. I tore my ACL my sophomore year and I don't think my parents had to pay for any medical expenses.

Student-athletes must be enrolled in health insurance policies and are required to cover expenses that insurance does not. The NCAA's catastrophic injuries insurance policy only kicks in when damages exceed $90,000.

I broke my foot in basketball practice in high school and the school paid for everything so I'm assuming they do

Guess it depends on the school or district.

Rugby at all ages is covered as supplemental catastrophic insurance under USA Rugby.
