Since Chicago Transit Authority has already been mention, I think for straight brass that kicks arse how can you beat "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones?

No mention of Van Morrison? I wouldn't know where to begin, it's a long list.

And Frank Zappa toured with a hell of a horn section.
The Gumbo Variations is pretty great off of Hot Rats.

Absolutely everything by Leonid and Friends.
Start with Life Saver (Chicago cover), Got to Get You Into My Life (EWF Beatles cover) and Spinning Wheel (Blood, Sweat and Tears cover). Usual lineup sax - trumpet - trombone, but some with up to six brass parts including Bari sax, fluegelhorn, and even a french horn thrown in.

Also worthy of mention: Boys from the Bay (Tower of Power), Holding On (Alissia Benveniste and the Funkateers) and What Becomes of the Broken Hearted (Joan Osborne with the Funk Brothers Motown Band)

Ok well, the entire Red album by King Crimson.

Phil Collin's Face Value album is full of killer brass. Just dynamite.

That's EWF's horn section - he worked with them for Genesis' "No Reply At All" and it led to his working with them more and producing Philip Bailey's solo album, "Chinese Wall."

Grace Potter and Joe Satriani with Cortez the Killer. Trumpet steals the thunder. Awesome cover of the Neil Young tune.
