Have cox. Want to drop cable but still want to be able to watch live events as well as get local channels for news and what not. How can I make this happen? What are the best options? I’m sick of overpaying for Cox. Please give me some good suggestions.

Cheers

YouTubeTV fits your requirements. It's what we have and has been solid.

There is a huge thread stickied about this on the Tech board. You can get Hulu Live, YouTube TV, etc. for a reasonable price per month. Can get the live option.

Go to Best Buy and get an antenna. That will get you 25-30 channels, which should cover your basic needs as far as sports and local news etc. Shows and movies through Prime, Netflix, Hulu etc.

Haven’t had cable in over 5 years. I just use an antenna. I do not have TNT, TBS, or ESPN for sports though.

So long as you are not in need of ABC live or PBS, Hulu Live works very well.. My cable bill with Spectrum kept ticking up and finally I had enough. so instead of the 178/ month that Spectrum was extorting me for each month , I pay about 70 mow and for 40.00 to Hulu each month I can get it to every room with a TV for that price

If you are willing to give up some sports watching an antenna is all you need. You can still get a lot of games over the air.

Be sure to tell Cox to go frick themselves when they tell you they'll lower your bill now that you're tired of overpaying.

Cut cable

Keep internet

Get a digital antenna for local channels

sign up for a streaming provider (sling, hulu, psvue, netflix) etc.. for more content options.

I use Hulu live. Works great and has every channel I will ever need. I believe its less than $40/month also.

I have heard good things about YouTube Tv but personally have never used it.
