I own several revolvers. None of them are in my safe for their merits as a fighting tool in 2019.

Oh it's an excellent deal, but in my opinion, a micro gun like the LCP is not a good choice for someone's first handgun. OTOH, it would be one of my first choices for a deep concealed carry gun.

I'll bite......why so many mags for a single gun? Heck, you've got enough money invested in extra mags that you could buy another gun.

It's not for fighting, it is for defense. Id like to see how many self defense applications of firearms required the person to have staying power on the scene. If you want a fighting tool you need an M4.
Let's also see how long we have to dig through youtube to find an instance of a semi auto hanging up in shooting vs finding a revolver hanging up.
The revolver is as valid of a self defense firearm now as it ever was. Now we have 7 and 8 shot double actions to chose from.

Lot's of myth's floating around in this thread.
EVERYONE here needs to watch this video.
The Best Handgun Caliber - A Real World Study
Basically it shows that nobody here is wrong, there are just differing degrees of right.

That's a distinction without value. If you're using your weapon against another person, you're in a fight. It doesn't matter if that's against a home invader in Alabama or a terrorist in Afghanistan.

YouTube. Where firearms instructors are born in 2019.
I'd rather see how long it takes for you to find a credible trainer or expert who would recommend a revolver over a semi-auto for self defense in the context of the OP.

That doesn't change anything that I've said. It's not the best choice in 2019. Period.

Whenever you talk in absolutes, you're wrong. There are exceptions to EVERY situation.
If a revolver is the weapon someone feels the most comfortable with, it's the best weapon for them. There might be more "logical" choices, but they aren't better for that person.
It may not be the best for you, but don't try to shoehorn others into your choices so you can feel validated in that choice.
A an excellent example of that is the Glock series of weapons beloved by many here. It's an excellent weapon, and meets many of the criteria I'd have for a handgun. However, the lack of a "real" dedicated safety eliminates it as a choice for me. Why? Because of the very remote chance that the weapon it picked up by a child. A simple trigger pull will operated the weapon in that instance. I cannot, personally, accept that risk.

In the context of what the OP asked for, I'm correct. I don't care if you admit it, but I'll keep saying it and I'll keep knocking down any incorrect or irrelevant points made.
Like yours about manual safeties. Personal preference doesn't remove objective data.

Carry what you want, but we aren't talking about a Glock versus M&P here. There are objective facts that we can point to, and have pointed to, that show wide differences between types of firearms.
This reminds me of the vehicle recommendation threads honestly. Someone asks for advice with specifics, and people respond with their recommendations based on personal preference.

No they aren't, and it's irrelevant to the OP.

Maybe mechanical is what you meant. I don't know.

Just to avoid a semantics argument, let's all agree that: (according to Google)
Manual - Relating to or done with the hands
Mechanical - Working or produced by machines or machinery
(Machine - An apparatus using or applying mechanical power and having several parts, each with a definite function and together performing a particular task)
Every firearm safety I've ever operated has been both manual and mechanical.
IMO when comparing safeties, the meaningful difference for the shooter is:
- Firing-action disengagement (Glock safeties, 1911 grip safety, any safety that is passively disengaged when shooting)
- Separate-action disengagement (safety buttons, levers, etc.)

I carry a Glock 19. I carry it because it's reliable, I shoot it accurately, and I get 15-17 rounds depending on magazine. I also carry it because I carried one around Afghanistan and Iraq for years without a single issue. Many others I know with similar experience did the same.
It doesn't need to be a Glock 19. Most high-quality semi-autos will do, depending on what the individual is looking for.
