Staying on Canal kind of sucks. There are better options.

The B hotel is just enough distance away from the commotion that I'd give it a run, tbh

Look pretty nice to me but I've never stayed

I guess it's because it's on that end of Canal that raises concerns. Plenty of great hotels up and down Canal though.

Based on being born in NOLA, spending years in NOLA, having family still living in the FQ, and having a friend of mine shot in the leg at 4 in the afternoon last year on Canal Street.

But I did move to Boston 6 years ago, so I guess I know nothing.

is Hotel 77 next to Baracadia? I walked by one of the newer hotels headed to a game from the Ugly Dog and the noise from the bar next door was pretty bad.

maybe. just tired of the fear mongering that gets plastered all over here my dude

B hotel look like a nice option and safe to me. within walking distance to touristy stuff and obviously streetcar is right outside the door

That particular end of Canal has had several shootings over the past few years. It wouldn't be where I would choose to stay, personally. Not really out of fear, I just feel there are better options.

My personal preference would be the other end of Canal closer to the River if I HAD to stay on Canal, or to stay somewhere else in the CBD or WHD.

I mean, the shooting occurred 5 blocks from the B Hotel, but yeah. Great story. Riveting.

That's not fear mongering, that's just a thing that actually happened. You asked what I based my opinion on, and I gave my reasoning.

Don't you have an appointment to get another shitty tattoo you can't afford to get to?

Actually, someone played the "walking down the street in the middle of the afternoon" game and came up with "shot in the crossfire of a gang war"

where is Loft 523? is it a safe walk to the Dome or FQ?

Gravier street maybe 2 blocks off Poydras. It is down near the Intercontinental. If she goes she needs to know where it is before she leaves, you could walk by it 10 times and never know it was a hotel, there isn't even a sign. Really cool place but I think of it as a couples retreat kinda place. Big HIGH ceiling lofts. It is a boutique and one that no two rooms are alike. Not nearly as close to the Dome as La Pavilion but similar to B on Canal, the walk to the FQ is shorter from 523 than B or La Pavilion.

The B on Canal is a small botique hotel that has swanky decor. It's fine. I don't get all of the negative comments.

I will say that I've only stayed there, and will consider staying there again, for shows at the Saenger Theatre. It's across the street, so very convenient for shows.

Best bet is to get a room on the Northshore.

is parking available? I may take the wife there for a game if she wants to change up our routine.

only concern she'd have is walking back after a game.

I just saw a Google review that said it didn't have parking. Cant imagine that, but maybe it is so.

Oh. He was playing "New Orleans".

Smart people never play "New Orleans".
