Bring back the BCS System!! Better for college football long-term

The current system enables the rich getting richer. That’s why we have so many blah games. Everyone else knows that they’re not playing for anything. There’s such a demand to be “perfect” that it’s basically rendering all the other bowl games meaningless. You saw how UGA was completely disinterested after missing out on the top 4 and having to play TX last year. With the mad rush to be in the top 4, even one off game during the season and you can get screwed. So teams have little motivation/incentive to schedule good teams.

Take BCS system to make 8 team playoff.
4 teams really isn’t enough. 8 is the magic number. If you’re 9, too bad. It’s only 1 extra game for 2 teams so saying the season would be too long with 8 team playoff doesn’t hold much water.

You contradict yourself big time

I have to say that I never thought I’d miss the BCS, but I kinda do. Was way more exciting, every game meant everything. Now, not so much.

You are a mad LSU fan.....
Just win and everything else will take care of itself.....

No excuse for Texas to drop 2 spots but for Clemson to remain #2, absolute joke of a system. They’re setting Clemson up to lose a game or look like shite all season and still get into the playoffs

6 team playoff. Power 5 Conference champs and then a wildcard. 1 and 2 seed get a bye while 4 vs. 5 and 3 vs. 6 play. Winners of those games face 1 and 2 seeds.

Is it Clemson’s fault their schedule sucks??? Yes. But if you have a schedule that easy you should dominate... last year they did.... this year they are not....,

Make the AAC a P6 conference.
The G4 conferences pair off and have play-in games.
8 team playoff. Conference champs only. Notre Dame can join a conference or shut up.

You realize these polls have nothing to do with the playoffs right?

I think an 8 team playoff is coming eventually. But no one who remembers the BCS clearly would want the shite show that gave us LSU/USC "co-national champions" back.

If we think we see the same teams all the time with a 4 team playoff what do you think will happen with an 8 team one?

The BCS era was very kind to us.

It’s not their fault their conference sucks. They scheduled non conference games against 2 SEC teams and unlike the new #1 they do play road ooc games. They have have started slow/looked sluggish other years. If they continue to do so, the committee will rank them lower even if they go undefeated like FSU in 2014

The only thing about conference champs only is putting in the best teams. So out of Auburn, UGA, LSU, and Bama, 3 are not in the running when they are clearly in the top 8 in CFB. Take the majority of the human element out of the process and use the BCS system to set the top 8. I think this is the best way until some better way is proposed.
And I agree that ND should join a conference before being considered to make the playoffs.

In a sense they don’t... but all Clemson has to do is keep on winning no matter the margin and they are in..... again... it’s not Clemson’s fault the teams they play are terrible.

The system that has selected the same top 4 as the CFP since it started?
Posted on 9/29/19 at 1:44 pm to TigerFan244
I agree. We went to the computer rankings to remove human bias. The computers got it right because they weighed strength of schedule heavier than “eye test “. But then the people in charge didn’t like being worthless so started tweaking it to make the voting polls worth more until we’re now back where we started with biased people picking the champions. Although it’s worse now, because it’s only a handful of voters on the committee instead of a big number from all over.
I say 8 team playoff, 5 conference champs and 3 wild cards based on polls. Then you make conference championships very rewarding again, but still have spots for some teams that get screwed by the schedule. And it can all be settled on the field.
