Population is always a problem. This is why we have a climate crisis and it’s completely unsustainable. People say it’ll level off eventually and the new tech has a way of pushing that bar further and further out, but only to sustain human growth - we still are devouring resources. Every new baby born is another person to feed, shelter, suck resources from the Earth and pollute in their wake. We are a cancer upon the Earth and every other species other than human is threatened by us. That’s not something technology can solve.

Where to start with this Ted Turner bullshite.

You project your cancerous shitty thread OT polluting activity on humanity and the planet. As I posted earlier, the Earth is far more complex and strong than any GW cultist can imagine.

The hubris displayed by people thinking we can destroy the climate without even trying is astounding.

Which is why species are going extinct because of humanity destroying their habitats, killing them off, etc all the time .

I'm all ears.

Destroying a limited habitat range of species is wrong, and not done in a modern free society. This happens in third world, corrupt shitholes. The answer to the problem you care so much about is more freedom and innovation, not less. LESS government fiat and control, not more.

It blows me away. It takes an incredible amount of willful ignorance to assume that humans can influence the climate more than the forces of nature and the sun. In comparison to the influence of the Universe that surrounds us, humans are less than fly shite.

We are as insignificant as it gets. Maybe people just don't want to accept that, or maybe they have another agenda.

quote:

The ecosystem you claim to respect is far more complex and far more resilient than you would ever care to imagine. Layer after layer of balancing forces. Layer after layer of forces that humans have absolutely no control over... and that doesn't even get into the influence of space and that giant ball of hydrogen bomb in the middle of our solar system.

I made this point earlier in this thread, but you made it more eloquently than I did.

Another thing that is never mentioned with the sea levels is the fact that tectonic plates can make it appear that the sea level is rising or falling.

In regards to co2, at 150 parts per million(co2) plants begin to starve and die. We are currently at 400 parts per million. In earth's history we've had over 5000 parts per million. On top of that co2 is about .054 percent of our atmosphere.

Also UHI(urban heat islands) isn't talked about much.

I think the whole alarmist, worlds going to end, IPCC research is very sinister.

I believe solar activity is the driving factor of temperature increases. co2 is just along for the ride.

Absolutely not.

Had the world gone to nuclear power decades ago, we wouldn't even have this issue.

Climate change will probably be a mass migration, not a mass extinction.

Imagine having to scare kids by telling them they're all going to die just to push a political and economic message.

This Earth that we inhabit is going to do what it does, and any person that thinks we can do something about it,imho,is an idiot.

I'm not going to read the article... Anyone with a little sense knows there has been ice ages. The Earth heats and cools on it's own in cycles. Are we helping it go faster probably, chopping down trees faster than we can replant them yeah, but over all the Earth is good.

I do think we need to start having a better understanding about garbage and plastics. There is just little crap everywhere. I know I could do a lot better, and if everyone just made a small change then big things are done. Water filters and refillable bottles. Biodegradable pouches and putting them in a glass bottle or pitcher in the fridge. Those 2 things alone would save a lot of space. Just my 2 cents take it or leave it.

Well it is science. Just like how jesus didn’t actually walk on water or feed a whole village with one fish and a loaf of bread... the shite we’ve been putting into the atmosphere is going to come back to haunt us. (Well not us but the future inhabitants of the planet)

No, it isn't.

Climate change isn't a mass extinction event. Hiding behind children is cowardly.

Climate change is science. Doomsday is political in order to change the economy, and is using kids as a shield.

I agree, but co2 isn't a pollutant.

There’s absolutely NOTHING I can do about it, one way or another, so I’ll choose to pass on the worry and live my life instead.

Youre gonna need to explain about what happened to the dinosaurs back when, cuz no humanity, baw

And if your answer is anything other than humanity, guess what? Having humanity now, doesn't stop it from happening again, baw!
