LSU @ Tennessee 2001 - 1st game after 9/11

Who here was at that game? When I think about 9/11 this game always comes to mind. Fans were nicer. People were aware and cared about each other. Great game on field and even in a loss you left feeling good about the team and America.
I think for that reason I’ve never had any hate towards Tennessee football.

He was unstoppable. I believe Donte Stallworth was out with an injury. Washington was maybe the 3rd or 4th string WR.

Plus they’re an SEC East team that LSU seldom plays

Twas there working in the suites.
The mood was so surreal.
Made A LOT in tips thanks to real LSU OT Ballers.

Our defense was dominant in 1st half but Tennessee woke up after halftime and we couldn’t come back. Their defense was great too. I’ll never forget that 70 yard TD they threw to Washington. He torched us that game. It’s crazy to think how good Tennessee was back then as opposed to how terrible they have been the past decade. Their fall gave rise to Bama and we need to tip that scale back soon.

I was there with the fam. Tennessee fans in the stands kept trying to get my 2 year old son to say Go Volunteers. He knew better though and now he is a student at LSU.

I was there, about 7-8 rows from the top. Great trip outside of Kelly Washington setting records.

I was there too. John Thompson (actor from Hunt for Red October) spoke before the National Anthem... chilling, but very proud moment for America...

I was there! Whenever Davey found a wiiide open true freshman Michael Clayton deep to open up the scoring, I was feeling pretty good. And then Clausen to Washington happened for the rest of the night. As a matter of fact, that was the headline in the paper the next morning. Clausen to Washington. Even still, we climbed back in position to have a shot in the end zone as time expired after a couple of long receptions under a minute to go. Unfortunately, it fell incomplete, but we'd exact our revenge in Atlanta denying the Vols a trip to the Rose Bowl against Miami for the NC. Insert Bubba and Lulu pic. I remember seeing all those orange roses scattered about everywhere as the Tennessee fans filed out on suicide watch. One thing I remember about the game in Knoxville is that I got separated from my friends I had made the trip with because I was hammered, trying to holler at some chicks, and I didn't have my ticket. As mentioned, this was the first game after 9/11, so security was obviously on high alert. Luckily, I came across a cop who actually believed me, despite my level of intoxication, and let me go right on in to find my seat.

Wrong game. That was the game around Veteran's Day.

I remember being mad as a 14 year old because they cancelled the auburn game that weekend. Everything worked out at the end when it came to that season and we got payback on Tennessee in the sec championship game! That was a fun year with Rohan davey and josh Reed

I was at the Florida Game, the first Home game after 9/11.
Rex Grossman pushed our shite in on the field, but the pre-game ceremony and honors were a thing of patriotic beauty.

Unstoppable because LSU lined up 10 yards off the LOS every snap in the 2nd half and refused to learn a lesson about it.
Edit: Yeah I'm also thinking of the 2005 game.

I was there. Remember flying up and wondering what the airport would be like. It was fine. Other thing I recall is all the men in overalls. Like a lot of them.

Hottest game ever. Only rivaled by App State.
The humidity was suffocating that evening.
ETA - I totally whiffed. I'm thinking of 2005 Tennessee.
