I cannot wait for Coach O to unleash this dude tomorrow. It took him some time, but looks like his hard work and commitment is finally paying off. A lot of people forget he was the #1 DT in the country coming out of high school. Came in overweight and we all questioned his work ethic. He has arrived.
I read from a UT poster somewhere that a lot of Sam Ehlinger's run are between the guards/tackles. If that holds true, Shelvin/Ika will be asked to hold there ground against likely double-teams, allowing the best linebackers in the country to clean it up.
On passing downs, I want Shelvin bull-rushing the frick out of that center putting him in Ehlinger's lap, which he is more than capable of. I do not See Ehlinger getting outside of the tackles. Too much speed on the outside should keep SE in the pocket. As long as we do not get caught too far up field, allowing SE to step up and dip underneath and head to the outside.
Look for Shelvin to have a coming out party tomorrow night.

some posters don't get how pumped we are and we just have to talk football, even if it's about the obvious stuff - like HOW GREAT we think our players are! Geaux Tigers! whoo-hoo!

To your point Ehlinger will sneak through the middle of the tackles to run when he steps up in the pocket.

Shelvin is going to have an impact on every running play simply by getting in the way. He's a huge individual but he's surprisingly quick and he looks country strong. I don't know if he's awesome at lifting weights but he's looks plenty strong on the field.
When two O lineman are trying to block you and they're the ones going backwards, yeah, you're strong.

Thats what stood out to me re-watching the GSU game. He looks quick for being as big as he is. The defense as a whole looked scary fast.

I should have clarified with "designed runs". That's my bad. obviously if a qb steps up and takes off its between the tackles. Not sure the the UT poster meant that's where he normally runs when he decides to take off, of 'if that's where the designed run goes.

LSU dominates this game in the trenches, Texas can’t compete with his their.

Unleash them all on LSU’s defense., what a scary thought for a QB.

Well Arden Key was a DE, but I agree...if Shelvin can wreck shite as DT like Key did at DE, we can run away with this game.

Y’all see way more than I do in this guy. I see a guy who can’t get off the ball. If by unleash you mean stand up and take up space and double teams then yeah he will be unleashed. He will be a guy who allows others to make plays off of him bc he can control the center due to his size but he will never be a Suh or Aaron Donald. He isn’t going to be the one making plays.

Not saying he is the next Q. Williams, but a NT's main job is to not get blown own off the ball, eat up blocks and allow LB's to clean up.
I thought he played pretty damn well on Saturday. He moved relatively well for how large of a man he is. Re watch the GSU game if you get a chance and watch number 72. He had a Great Game.
