He’s a poor man’s Dak Prescott

One thing I noticed about him is that if he has a short route and a long route available to him, he almost always chooses the long route.
He rarely checks down to his safety outlet receiver. He’s like Rex Grossman 2.0.
On the interception in the end zone near the end of the game, he threw into a longer route that was double covered with a third DB in the vicinity!
I want to like him... but he’s bad.

They did a good job last year of putting him in a position to do the things he can do well and complimented it with a good running game. He has to progress, though. Nagy can't always mask his deficiencies as teams have a year of film to breakdown now.

Yep. This.
They have a rare talent in Montgomery, but they didn't use him. 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out. Montgomery comes in, 2 touches, 1st down. Then they pull him for he rest of the quarter! I don't understand!
Then, like you said, Montgomery is standing behind the defensive line with no one in sight for 15 yard, holding his hands out for a check down pass, nope. Trubisky airs it out into no man's land.
Pathetic. One day, there will be a team that will benefit from the use of Montgomery....

I feel bad for the Bears re: Trubisky. It’s not their fault the two QBs drafted right after him, who were better in college, turned out to be better in the NFL. You can’t predict something like that
