London 2018 119 homicides
New York 2018 289

These numbers seem pretty close to me out of 8 or 9 million people. If it means the United States gets to have more freedoms then I think the difference is worth it.

It is.

But NYC is viewed as exceptionally safe these days.

While some people like to try and paint London as dangerous.

I think people just point that it isn't perfect and has its own issues. Both sides are guilty of this headline grabbing nonsense.

Probably because the White/Asian population is still 70%.

Seattle's is 80% white/Asian and its murder rate is still double Londons

People who say our gun laws should look like London's. In the areas I have lived the violent crimes are far better than London's so why should my gun law be like theirs?

Go look up the reported numbers by the police in the UK and quit looking at the surveys that routinely under-report violent crimes. The UK had a 20% jump in between 2017 and 2018, the rates over the last several years are going up.

In the united states with our freedoms that is pretty damn good and I will take it.

How so?

If you want to argue that some people would claim that we should adopt London's policy based off their less violent crime numbers, then yeah, I'm sure there are plenty of people that would argue that.

I'm not one of them. And no one here has yet to argue that either.

From my experiences living here the last 5+ years
I feel safe

Now if I went to Washington Heights I wouldn’t feel the same, but who the frick goes to Washington Heights?

The original post is a reaction to arguments that the United States is unsafe due to guns. Just listen to any of the Democratic Presidential candidates. People are arguing this outside of this thread which triggered the thread.

Because you know good and well why this thread was made and you know people love to point to European utopias to drive our policies. But, you act all obtuse to try in an attempt to mudddy up this entire thread and confuse the point.
