Why does Fox News liter its website with so much trash

Half the website is about politics and meaningful things and the rest is nothing but TMZ bullcrap.
Why are they reporting celebrities and their fricked up lives? I read Fox to keep up with news, not what the Kardashians are doing today

Fox News served a purpose back in the late 90s / early 00s to balance the leftist TV news monopoly.
20 years later, it's outlived its purpose. Time to pull the plug.

A cupple reasons, I guess. Money is the obvious one, but also to affiliate themselves with other brands and gain a measure of reflected credibility.
This kind of stuff just inches its way into your perception of them.
Not sure how it would register on a meter of any kind.
