Few teams sparked as many coaching opinions as the Tigers. "It will be interesting to see what they really are," an SEC coordinator said "They're the one to me who seems, you don't ever want to say overhyped because it's LSU, but maybe a little bit." There's great optimism within the program about the offense with quarterback Joe Burrow, a talented receiving corps and running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and John Emery. New passing game coordinator Joe Brady cut his teeth under Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead and has injected elements of Moorhead's offense. "Every play that goes in, there's 3-4 options and [Burrow] gets them into the right play," an LSU source said. "That's really advanced. LSU hasn't been like that." An SEC coach was less bullish on Burrow, saying, "He's a great kid, but he's certainly not a projected [NFL] draft kid. That's not really the makings of a kid who's going to tear apart the SEC this year." Coaches are more optimistic about LSU's defense.
