From Project NOLA Facebook:
THE NOPD HAS ARRIVED ON THE SCENE OF AN AIRPLANE CRASH NEAR WHAT MAY BE 7300 JOURDAN ROAD. MAY involve a small private airplane. Please use caution if in the area.
That address is about 1/4 mile from Lakefront Airport
EDIT:
From NOLA Ready Twitter:
are responding to a small plane crash in a field near Jordan & Morrison. Two fatalities have been confirmed. Scene is under control, but please avoid area as investigation is underway. #NOLAReady
Edit 2: Fox 8 anchor killed along with stunt pilot while filming a story

I've always thought it would be really cool to fly a private plane but there's just too many going down. I'll stick with Southworst

Just archived weather data at MSY. There were Distant Cumulimbus clouds SE-SW from MSY. Plane took off from Lakefront and crashed around 3:06 pm local time. 2 fatalities.

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - Today we mourn the loss of our longtime colleague and friend Nancy Parker. Details have not been released by authorities, but we can confirm she passed away in plane crash while covering a story at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport.
“Nancy was absolutely a joy to work with each and every day”, said FOX 8 Vice President and General Manager Tim Ingram. “Today we lost a wonderful journalist and remarkable friend, the New Orleans television community lost a true treasure, but beyond that, her family lost a wife, a mother and daughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
Nancy was a part of the FOX 8 family for the last 23 years, she put her heart and soul into her work, covering thousands of stories and touching countless lives. She made a difference in the lives of those she reported on. She will be sorely missed, and her absence creates a void that cannot be filled.

So sad.
Many a morning I watched the Fox 8 morning crew as I headed out the door for work.

Thoughts and love out to you LA/NOLA folks
She seemed pretty damn great at what she did and even more importantly a great human. As someone who works in the profession I can only imagine how devastating this is and will be for your community in the coming days

I met her twice about 10 years ago, once when she was a customer at the store I was working at and then a few weeks later in the Toys R Us checkout line doing Christmas shopping. You’d be hard pressed to meet anyone more outgoing and friendly than she was. RIP

I was working up in Jackson, MS back in the early 70's at a Marina on the Ross Barnett Reservoir and the same thing happened with a stunt pilot and a reporter.
Something went wrong and the plane crashed nose first into the water and both were killed.
Can't imagine heading out to do a story about what should be a pretty exciting day only to die like that. I'd imagine you'd know it's not going to be good by the pilots reaction and then seeing how fast you're approaching the ground those last few seconds.
RIP.
