Just saying....
Last year Clemson played Ga Southern and the score was.... Clemson 38 Ga Sou 7
Strictly informational. Not being a smart arse..
Just trying to keep things in perspective....
And yes I know Trevor L didn’t play the whole game...

Run your offense and stop trying to play games. If we're afraid of Texas's defense (was bad last year AND lost 8 starters), then we have some problems.
Coaches with high powered offenses never worry about going vanilla because it's stupid. I hate to see posts like this on here every year.

Don’t think they bring out anything crazy as far as plays, but I expect them to throw the football. No more “save the secret offense” stuff that’s been happening for years. Prove that the passing game works against GS before going to Texas and trying to pass the ball.
That's all I hope for. Run the RPO offense, quick passing game, RBs out to catch passes, etc. We don't need special plays, just run the scheme.

The offense can’t afford to be vanilla, they need reps for Texas
This has been the case lately. Just run the damn offense. #hiddenplaybook

If they are smart, the run their offense, holding nothing back.......every week.

The "vanilla" concept is absolutely stupid.
You run your offense. You dominate the opponent. Playing close to the vest means you play down to the level of your opponent. The players can't enjoy playing with one hand tied behind their back.
Does OU or any other high powered offense, play vanilla? No, the let their superior athletes loose.
In our case, we have even more of a need to run the offense. We need to perform it under game conditions and get the reps, timing and execution down.
Texas plays against spreads and RPOs. You think they haven't seen it before? Eventually you have to show what you got anyway.

Orgeron is going to coach scared the way he always does. He'll be afraid of injuries and afraid of showing how weak the weaknesses in our game still are. Don't expect much.

We absolutely have to stop this philosophy of "not showing the offense" because then we play a big game and the offense is vanilla again, and the coaches say "well the players really weren't comfortable running that stuff." You want to establish an offensive identity you work on it in live games like this. Do you add wrinkles for big games like Texas and bama? Absolutely. But you dont hide your offense

I frickin hate this philosophy and really hope we don’t subscribe to it again. As several others have said, run the damn offense. You shouldn’t have to hide who you’re gonna be. Maybe if there’s a trick play you could really only pull off once or twice during the season, then yea ok save it for the right moment, but don’t “hide” your offense. Run what you wanna run so the kids can get the timing down and be ready for the tougher games. You can’t just flip a switch and change your identity.
Of course as we’ve seen in years past, the whole secret playbook was a lie. I think that’s what most of us fear, is that it’s more hype and no substance.
For the record, I don’t think it’s just hype. I believe Brady has changed the offense a great deal and I think we will see the best offense we’ve had since 2007

I agree with Gunslinger. Run ever play in the book in every game. They will know many of our plays, but won't know when they're coming.

If history is any indication, probably pretty vanilla.
I see this "LSU was vanilla against Podunk U" quite a bit. LSU was simply "vanilla" in general. Now, they may not have been "up" for the game. But, it isn't like they ran some wild offense in other games.
I believe LSU will run its offense because I think they have always run its own offense. It was just a vanilla offense.

How Vanilla
I think LSU will script the first 15-20 plays and go from there. If they find something that works, (PASS or RUN) run it till they stop it.
G.S. will not roll over, it's another game on the schedule that has to be played and WON.

I think they have to open up the playbook and use it as a tune up for Texas.

I've never been a fan of the vanilla offence approach preceding a big game. Of course I'd never run some of the plays that wouldn't be needed beat a GSU team. I'd like to make the other team game plan for defending the whole field. Then run what they give us. But there's nothing like doing it in a game to help confidence for our team and create fear for the other guys. This won't be the popular approach on the rant I'm sure. But I'd don't have a million dollar coaching job to lose either.

we've been hiding our offense for years.
I hope Texas is completely surprised.

I don't think it should be vanilla. You have to set the tone of the season with this game. Make sure the starters can afford to be out by halftime. Then let us see what the young guys can do.
