I'm curious; if Shiv hadn't made that move at the dinner table, would they have insisted that Shiv be the successor in the negotiations?

The best line for me was before the Roy's left and they were game planning for the trip. Roman said "I'm just afraid Kendall is going to come off as too cool and likable."

That was a laugh out loud moment for me.
I think they are pushing the Roman character a bit too far right now, something that shows tend to do.

What is the deal with the scars on Logan’s back. I think it was E8 of season 1. I kept waiting for them to come back to that but never did.

Logan is dangerously scared and unstable right now.
He might go scorched earth on everyone...
or maybe the kids start going scorched earth on Logan after he applied the Mighty Backhand of Shut The frick Up to Roman...
or maybe the kids realize Logan's done and go scorched earth on each other for control...
or maybe Stewy gets wind that the deal was with Pierce, and he buys them out from under Logan and goes scorched earth on Waystar...
Or maybe Gerri and Roman actually frick.
No matter what, this season has been goddamned FUN!

He knows he can't right now and that's he's missed his opportunity to shut that shite down because he failed to recognize her rising threat while he was still playing the whipped lapdog after he killed that kid. He trusts Gerri's assessments and Gerri's already said that Shiv's the only real choice to get them through the cruise debacle. Kendall knows that he's got to bide his time if he wants to take her out, but at some point if he waits too long, Shiv will be too big to take down. He'll constantly be trying to undermine her at every step to limit how much power she can build, just like he was in the panel.
Man, I love how the writers have everyone holding everyone else by the throat and nobody dares really squeeze hard or let go.

It's somewhat odd that antitrust laws never came into play during Waystar's attempted purchase of another news agency.

That's got to come later, right? That's got to come later after there's actually a deal and legally binding documents signed so the government has something to approve or not approve.
Anyway, I just assume that the attorneys have hashed that out off screen and they're not telling us because the minutiae of the functionaries in the legal departments discussing the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 and its implications on the pending merger is kinda boring and not as compelling as the Machiavellian maneuvering of the power brokers making the deal happen.
