There is a line to place bets.
90% of seats in the sports book are reserved.
Kind of sucks.

Now, if you are a high roller or with a high roller, the worlds your oyster.

A bunch of guys in a designated space with all kinds of TVs gambling and drinking all day. Exciting but gets old after the 2nd day.

You walk up to a nondescript desk and place your bets.

They give you little receipts.

You then go and watch the games on a bunch of TVs and people kind of mill about.

From time to time a group of 5 or less makes some noise regarding a game.

Occasionally, people get worked up for one game in particular.

Someone will yell "frick" or "shite."

If you win, you go back to that desk from earlier and they give you money.

If you lose, you keep drinking and betting or just drinking. Maybe order some finger foods.

Done it once, did well. Want to go back during the first weekend of March Madness with a few friends.

MUCH better when you're winning.

If you live where they're available...phone apps are the way to go. Avoid the lines / crowds.

Tons of fun. Make a bunch of bets and then find a seat with a tv, get hammered, and watch sports all day.

A $20 bet on horses gets you a drink voucher compared to $100 for sports

Find a race with an overwhelming favorite. Bet $20 to show. If it wins you only win $2 or so, but you get a drink voucher. Drinks are $10-15. If you lose the bet, you are only out $5 extra dollars. If you win you can drink for free.

A bunch of old fat guys that think they know more about sports than they actually do. Basically a MSB in person.

Watching the LSU/UGA game at the Aria sportsbook with a few thousand on LSU moneyline was one of the greatest experiences of my life, until we lost.

I haven't led a very interesting life, but yeah it was fun.

It's like going to a sports bar where all the patrons are very attentive to the games, and many of them are watching multiple games at once. You don't sit at tables like a restaurant--everyone faces towards the screen and everyone watches the games. If you're a chatty sort, don't go to a sports book to watch games. Go to a bar.

You don't have to stand in long lines to bet at a sports book. Just make your bets way before the games start.

You want to know what a high roller is? I've seen guys throwing tickets (the losers) on the floor for multiple $500 and $700 bets while still holding a handful of tickets for later contests. In the good sports books, a lot of the patrons are betting $100+ on multiple games/parlays, etc.

If you want a good seat, someone in your group is going to have to get up at the crack of dawn to go save seats.

Download the app for the book of the casino you want to bet at. Go to the window to fund the account. Make bets on the app. Don't have to worry about standing in line and missing kickoff/first pitch/tipoff/etc... With the app you can do in-game betting where odds change throughout the game. Plus you can see what the payout is before you submit your bet. Rattling off the right bet numbers, types and stuff can be a little intimidating for people new to sports bets. On the app you can bet as little as $2.

Unless you’re a VIP, you’ll wait in crazy long lines to make a bet. Then, you’ll have to stand up to watch the games as all other sitting areas are reserved for … VIP’s.
