A friend of a friend's cat got spooked in the middle of the night and basically clawed the guy's eye out while he was sleeping. The dude can only see of out one eye now.
After hearing that story I will never own a cat.

That cat is actually showing affection. Whoever posted this article is clearly joking or is a moron.

Cats are the assholes. My wife keeps trying to make excuses for why they do things. I ignore the things as much as possible, don't kick at them or chase them, nothing. One of them, the day I moved in, has pooped in front of the litter box on the floor. In front of it. It's been pissed at me for 6 years running simply because I live there.
frick him.
frick him.

Sicboy a beta, the cat is clearly the alpha in that household.

That's the problem. Yes, it was "their house" before I married my wife, but unlike dogs, they can't be "reasoned with" or will ever get used to any kind of change. They'll just keep making their displeasure known until the day they die.
And they are nice enough cats. Always asking me for pets, stand on my chest for licks when I'm in bed, but it's the other stuff that makes them unbearable to live with. My wifes side of the bed is a mine field of cat puke that we have to shampoo every couple of weeks. It's disgusting.

They were like 11 or 12 years old when I moved in. Tell me you would have "shown them what's up" to a bunch of old cats. That would be a great story.

We have two. Cats simply DGAF about anything. I've been packing for a trip and leave a suitcase open with clothes in it because I'm not done. Piss bombed.
You have two litterboxes but they continue to pee on clothes that are left on the floor? Are both of the litterboxes covered? We had the same issue until we uncovered one of our litterboxes and the peeing on clothes immediately stopped.

Christopher Hitchens explained it best:
“Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.”

I would bop their heads together every chance I got. It might not help them suck less, but they'd probably leave you alone.

My boys are going through a phase where they like to sleep on the floor, and I just put them in their bed before I turn in. On a few occasions, the cats have gone in their room and pissed on the blanket they're under.

That's because dogs are dirty and stupid in general.
Those mind-control bacteria have you falling in line behind your cat overlords nicely.

From everything I've heard, any kind of retaliation just makes it worse. If one of them is in my spot in the bed and won't move, I'll pick them up and move them over to another part of the bed..........and hope I don't find that they decided to piss on the couch as revenge.

I was anti-cat my entire life growing up. I thought they were useless, worthless, and basically nobody should any valid reason to have a cat instead of a dog. I'm still far more of a dog person, but after getting a cat my worldview has entirely changed.
-As far as companionship, they aren't all up on you 24/7 like "man's best friend" but they are loving and seek your attnetion and are good to keep you company
-They are ridiculously low maintenance compared to dogs. You don't have to let them outside and they still do their business in a little box out of sight. No cleanup.
-They can be left to their own for a while. If my wife and I go out of town for 3 days we don't have to worry about a sitter or boarding, we jsut make sure he has food and water and he's good on his own for 3 days

Except for scooping that mess. And then you get a cat who can't be fussed to make sure he's aiming in the box when peeing and gets it all down the side and on the floor.

true, you do have to do that, but with some dogs they either accidentally mess in teh house that you have to cleanup, or if you're walking your dog (and responsible) you're picking up their poop anyway.
Also we have one of these:
so there aren't really aiming issues or messing on the floor, plus it doesn't look unsightly.

As an owner of cats, that would be the mechanism by which that cat wakes its owner up when purring and light meowing don't work.
That cat likely saved his owner's life.

Thats because the cat thinks its their floor... you are their servant and you will clean it up...
That is the difference between cats and dogs...
Dogs have owners.
Cats have staff.
